Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly skilled Azure Data Engineer with extensive expertise in Databricks and Lakehouse architecture to lead the development of scalable, high-performance data pipelines supporting enterprise analytics solutions. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize large-scale data workflows across cloud platforms, ensuring compliance, security, and operational efficiency. Your contributions will enable data-driven decision-making and support our organization’s digital transformation objectives with innovative data management practices.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and data marts on the Azure ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, PySpark, Python, SQL, and exposure to banking or financial services domain. You will work closely with data architects, SMEs, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality data solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Development
• Design and build data marts, curated layers, and reusable data models for analytical and reporting needs.
• Develop high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks, PySpark, Python, and SQL.
• Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets using distributed computing techniques.
• Implement data transformation workflows aligned to medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold).
Azure Platform & Databricks
• Develop and optimize notebooks, jobs, Delta Lake tables, and data workflows within Azure Databricks.
• Implement Delta Lake best practices—ACID transactions, schema enforcement, and time travel.
• Utilize Azure services such as ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Key Vault, API integrations, etc.
• Monitor and optimize cluster configurations, job performance, and cost management.
Data Governance & Quality
• Ensure data quality, lineage, security, and compliance with enterprise standards.
• Implement validation frameworks, unit tests, and automated QA processes.
• Work with data governance teams and tools (Collibra, Purview, Securiti.ai, etc.) to ensure compliance.
Banking Domain
• Work with banking SMEs to understand product, customer, risk, compliance, loans, deposits, payments, and regulatory data models.
• Design data sets aligned with Basel, AML, Credit Risk, Treasury, Fraud, and other banking analytics needs.
• Understand core banking systems, transaction data, financial reporting, and reconciliation requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership
• Work with business analysts, data scientists, and BI teams to deliver ready-to-consume data products.
• Guide junior engineers and contribute to best practices, code reviews, and solution design.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies—backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation.

Required Skills
• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong expertise in Python, PySpark, and advanced SQL.
• Hands-on experience in Azure Databricks
• Hands-on experience in building large-scale data pipelines, data lakes, and data marts.
• Excellent understanding of Delta Lake, distributed computing, performance optimization.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, ADLS, Synapse, Key Vault, CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep understanding of relational and dimensional modeling, star schemas, slowly changing dimensions (SCDs).
• Strong data quality, metadata, and governance practices.
• Knowledge of banking/financial services data and processes.

Preferred Skills
• Experience with Databricks Workflows, REST APIs, Unity Catalog.
• Familiarity with medallion architecture and modern data platform patterns.
• Exposure to containerization (Docker), Git, DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) for consumption layer alignment.
