Job Description
Job Duties- Receives specific instructions on implementing small features and applies software engineering practices that are maintainable and performant with regular oversight.
- Writes software with others in mind that is well documented, tested, and organized.
- Works under direct supervision and receives regular instruction in usage of tools and methods from senior engineers, in order to grow skills.
- Creates designs under direct supervision. Can turn simple requirements into code.
- Maintains responsibility for the test design and test execution of a small feature. Implements the best test model and framework for the system under test to ensure the highest possible quality.
- Identifies any difficulties and risks with test coverage for designs and works to mitigate them.
- Takes simple requirements and executes them in design and/or code.
- Identifies gaps in functional requirements and raises issues to the proper level.
- Writes technical and test requirements sufficient to guide other engineers.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
KSAs- Ability to read log files to provide theories for root-causes for platform issues
- Understanding of SLTs, how they are measured and how they can impact user experience
- Basic understanding of how our software is used, generally, for a variety of university functions
- Ability to use stable domain technology
- Ability to identify risks and dependencies in work

Minimum Qualifications- Associate's Degree or technical education/training in software development or related field
- Practical experience with Web Services development
- Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Previous experience in REST/SOA/HTML development
- Experience with IntellliJ/VS Code, JIRA, Git
- Experience with Agile/Scrum project development
- Experience with Java or a similar Object-oriented language
- Experience with Application Integration with legacy systems
- Experience with Cloud-Native Development, and/or Porting/Refactoring of On-Site to Cloud (preferably AWS)
- Experience with Javascript/Typescript and a modern UI framework such as Angular, React, or Vue.js
- Experience with Oracle or other database interfaces
