The Red Hat Software Management team is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will be part of a distributed team and will develop and maintain RPM and related components. Good candidates should have an interest in Linux software development and software engineering in C or C++. You should also have an understanding of how to debug application problems.
Design and implement new features and fix bugs in RPM, a command-line driven package management system
Contribute automated tests to continuous integration (CI) systems
Communicate with developers, customers, and users, and collaborate with them to provide code matching their expectations
Review patches and provide feedback to community-oriented enhancements and bug fixes
Working knowledge of C or C++, with a willingness to learn these languages further
Some knowledge of Linux operating systems
Interest in open source software and development
Experience with Git or any other source control management
Intermediate troubleshooting skills (debugging problems in applications and libraries)
Intermediate written and verbal English communication skills
The following are considered a plus
Involvement with the Fedora project as a user or contributor
Knowledge of Fedora and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Any RPM or DNF eco-system related experience
Experience with JIRA, Bugzilla, or any other bug tracking system
