About the role:

The Associate, People Relations role partners with management and employees to identify and resolve employee issues in a manner consistent with Oscar policy and procedures by working cross-functionally with departments in and outside of the People Team including close partnership with Oscar's internal and external legal counsel.

You will report into the Senior Manager, People Relations.

Work Location: This position is based in our Tempe, AZ office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $87,188 - $114,434 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage employee relation concerns varying from minor to severe with the support of leadership
  • Conduct unbiased and efficient investigations following Oscar's investigation protocol and practices
  • Collaborate with additional teams when needed for Title VII investigations and formal internal complaints - including Legal, People Strategy and company leadership.
  • Serve as the PR connection through the employment lifecycle -- onboarding interviews, stay interviews, exit interviews, and employee grievances.
  • Act as a main point of contact and approver in the CAP/PIP review process from end-to-end and provide leader coaching and support where needed.
  • Utilize Oscar's case management system (HR Acuity) for people related issues such as: employee relations issues, disciplinary actions, legal issues (harassment, discrimination, accommodations, etc.), policy interpretation/application and investigations.
  • Interface with both employees and business leaders providing advice and guidance in a consistent manner.
  • Builds and fosters relationships with leaders at all levels while maintaining objectivity.
  • Assist with other HR/PR projects, as assigned.
  • Identify areas to improve innovation, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Meet and exceed established metrics and SLAs within the PR space to maintain employee trust and build department brand.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years commensurate experience.
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience intaking, conducting and documenting investigations of harassment allegations, including but not limited to; sexual harassment, hostile work environment, discrimination, retaliation, unethical practices, workplace behavior, and policy analysis.
  • 1+ years experience working with remote employees and conducting remote investigations.
  • 1+ years knowledge of employment laws, EEOC requirements, short term disability (STD)/FMLA, Reasonable Accommodation, FLSA/wage-hour laws, etc.

Bonus points:

  • HR certifications (i.e. SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, AWI-CH).
  • Prior experience working as a HR Business Partner and/or Employee Relations Specialist/Associate.
  • Workday experience.
  • HR Acuity or other CMS experience.
  • Experience in tech or startup environments.

Pay Transparency:  Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
