The Company's Total Rewards package is at or above industry levels. The expected base salary range for this position is between 99,539.20 CAD - 130,645.20 CAD. Job related skills, experience, education, and location will be considered in setting actual starting base salary. In addition to your base salary and depending on job level, eligibility, and performance, a total package may include profit sharing, a short-term incentive and/or long-term incentives. The Associate Manager, Process Engineer, leads and executes Processing related engineering initiatives end‑to‑end—from concept and detailed design through commissioning, validation, and successful start‑up. The role partners closely with Plant Operations, SHE, QA, R&D, and Global Engineering to deliver safe, compliant, and cost‑effective manufacturing capabilities, embedding standard work, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead preparation of Engineering Design Basis, specifications, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment and instrumentation lists, control logic, engineering calculations, and operating procedures.
- Manage projects from concept through start‑up including scope development, cost estimating, schedule creation, risk identification/mitigation, and commissioning/start‑up execution.
- Lead FAT/SAT activities, site installation, commissioning, and process validation ensuring robust handover to Operations.
- Identify and assess new processing technologies, equipment solutions, utility systems, and manufacturing methods aligned with SCJ’s global standards.
- Implement Engineering, Quality and Safety standards, best practices, and CAPAs (corrective and preventive actions).
- Lead bidding/RFQ processes, manage external engineering partners and contractors, and ensure work is completed according to engineering specifications.
- Drive compliance with internal safety, quality, and regulatory policies; support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC).
- Execute troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, process optimization, and equipment performance improvements.
- Support new product introductions, technology transfers, early‑phase technical feasibility assessments, and scale‑up from pilot to production.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders and plant leadership.
- Support long‑range capital planning and forecasting at the site level.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial with strong process background considered).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in FMCG, Food/Beverage, or Pharmaceutical industries supporting process/manufacturing engineering.
- Proven experience leading capital projects from design through commissioning and start‑up.
- Demonstrated experience designing, installing, and commissioning hygienic process systems in accordance with industry sanitary standards.
- Strong knowledge of unit operations (mixing, batching, emulsification, inline blending, water treatment).
- Proficiency in interpreting and developing PFDs, P&IDs, and process documentation.
- Experience with PSM principles and MOC processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional project teams and manage external vendors.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
- P. Eng is an asset
- Hands‑on experience with liquid and lotions processing systems and scale‑up.
- Lean Manufacturing / TPM experience.
- Competence with SAP, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD or similar platforms.
- ASME BPE, 3‑A and/or EHEDG proficiency.
- ANSI/ISA88 knowledge.
- Proven cGMP experience.
- Strong safety record is expected. Experience in leading SHE activities is preferred
- Full‑time position; occasional off‑hours support may be required for commissioning/start‑up.
- Travel requirement: Occasional travel may be required.
