Team: The Product Involvement and Controversial Weapons team, one of the data teams responsible for delivering Morningstar Sustainalytics’ suite of ESG products. The Product Involvement and Controversial Weapons Research team is responsible for delivering Morningstar Sustainalytics’ research on company involvement in products and services which allows clients to screen according to specific criteria motivated by ethical, impact, compliance, ESG risk or other investment considerations.
Role: This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, leading a group of Team Leads, and ensuring the smooth execution of all data collection activities. The Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver on agreed-upon research commitments while upholding high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness. The position carries full accountability for the team’s overall performance and is expected to drive continuous improvements in productivity, efficiency, and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities:
People Management
Build and lead a high-performing team of analysts by providing clear direction, setting goals, and optimizing resource allocation.
Strengthen the team’s understanding of ESG impact concepts and improve analysts’ ability to apply these in research indicators.
Coach and develop Team Leads/Senior Analysts to enhance their managerial capability, leadership behaviors, technical competence, and content expertise.
Motivate, engage, and recognize team members and Team Leads to maintain high morale and performance.
Research Output Management
Lead effective research planning, evaluate team performance, and prepare monthly performance and insights reports for senior management.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of research outputs across multiple research requirements and priorities.
Business Process Improvement
Apply LEAN, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement approaches to enhance research processes.
Map, standardize, and document workflows into clear SOPs.
Lead issue management activities, including root-cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive actions.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in any discipline.
7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in secondary research or data operations; exposure to ESG/Sustainability is an advantage.
Demonstrated experience coaching Team Leads/Senior Analysts and managing people-leadership responsibilities.
Prior experience hiring analysts, establishing research teams, overseeing research operations, improving research processes, and ensuring high-quality delivery.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, international, and technically complex environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial mindset.
Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to proactively identify, assess, and manage risks.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders across levels and geographies.
Proven project management skills and experience optimizing workflows and processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with text mining or artificial intelligence tools is a plus.
