ABOUT YOUR ROLE:
As part of the Global Materials Supply (GMS) Team, The Assistant Manager for Production & Planning of Trims Materials will lead the GMS trims production & planning team that services all Brands and products sourced through Asia and European Sourcing Offices (ASO, ESO). With a team of approximately 4 and more than $200M of spend under management annually, the individual is responsible to manage and oversee the trims production and planning. The leader is responsible for building and developing a cohesive materials team that maximizes “One VF” scale in leverage through analytics and brings a procurement mindset to the organization. The role has extensive focus to operationally connect with Brands, Sourcing, Suppliers, Finance, and Responsible Sourcing & Sustainability organizations. Frequent influential communication to external partners and VF management are required.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Include but not limited to
- Develop and execute both short- and long-term trim material strategies, factoring in supply chain footprint, lead times, profitability, sustainability, and sourcing needs (>$200M annual spend across 100+ suppliers).
- Manage the development of trims through the go-to-market calendar, ensuring all milestones are met with precision and timeliness.
- Ensure reliable, on-time delivery of trims by collaborating with material suppliers and finished goods vendors, enhancing agility and responsiveness.
- Act as the key liaison for Product Development and Sourcing teams across all brands on trim material supply topics.
- Partner with VF Materials Labs, Sourcing, and Quality teams to manage trim quality—from setting guidelines to resolving issues at factories.
- Lead cost negotiation strategies using fact-based methodologies; set annual cost-saving targets and track progress in collaboration with GMS COE and Finance.
- Support innovation and sustainability by identifying supplier capabilities and sourcing eco-friendly alternatives in partnership with Brand Development and Innovation teams.
- Select and manage global and local suppliers that align with material, manufacturing, and product development strategies while reducing risk and improving transparency.
- Monitor supplier performance using scorecards and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.
- Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships that foster innovation, compliance, and long-term value.
- Collaborate with Compliance and CSR teams to ensure all suppliers meet VF’s standards and social responsibility requirements.
- Influence cross-functional teams (e.g., Sourcing, Finance, Sustainability) by presenting data-driven insights and aligning trim strategies with broader business goals.
- Lead all people-related activities including hiring, training, managing, and developing team talent to foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
