Associate Manager, Language Services (Language Management Team)

Thermo Fisher Scientific Language Services is seeking an Associate Manager to lead a global Language Management team supporting clinical and life sciences programs. This role combines people leadership, operational oversight, and strategic partnership to ensure high-quality, compliant, and scalable language solutions across a diverse portfolio of clients and content types.

The successful candidate will lead a team of inhouse Language Specialists and play a key role in driving operational excellence, quality, and continuous improvement across global language services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead global Language Services operations, providing subject matter expertise to support clinical and business objectives.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of inhouse Language Specialists through effective delegation, performance management, and career development.
  • Oversee team delivery across language management, Quality Check (QC), and QC coordination activities.
  • Drive resource planning, workload prioritization, and skill gap analysis to ensure optimal team performance and scalability.
  • Monitor team performance through KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally with global stakeholders to deliver compliant, high-quality language solutions.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between Language Services and senior business leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives and support the evolution of language services operations.
  • Manage staff lifecycle activities including hiring, onboarding, goal setting, performance evaluations, and employee development.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in localization or language services (preferably in life sciences or clinical research).
  • Minimum 1+ year of people management experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven expertise in delivering high-quality, on-time language services.
  • Strong understanding of CAT/TMS tools, translation workflows, and linguistic quality processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience driving operational improvements and leading change initiatives.
  • Solid decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic financial acumen (resource planning, budgeting, forecasting).
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
