How This Role Impacts Live Oak and its People
The Associate Live Oak Express Lending Officer will be an integral team member serving the needs of clients. This role will be central and responsible in supporting all end-to-end activities of the business to include sales and growth strategies, business development and prospecting, client deepening activities, risk management, underwriting, operations, servicing, and portfolio management.
Additionally, this role will have keen focus on safety and soundness and risk governance. Lastly, this position will serve as a key team member for strategic efforts related to the lending platform buildout and ongoing evolution that will support Live Oak Express and the entire bank.
What You’ll Do at Live Oak
Support the Director, Live Oak Express in the development and execution of tactical initiatives that drive the intermediate and longer-term strategic objectives of the business
Assist in the development and execution of sales and growth projects and strategies related to business development, production pipeline management, verticalization and cross-sell, and client relationship deepening efforts
Assess loan applications for completeness; decisions loan applications in a timely manner within delegated lending authority while adhering to bank policy, risk appetite, and regulatory guidelines
Supports all “voice of the client” activities; surface and summarize key client feedback themes; works with team to develop action plans to address opportunities and/or mitigate risks with consensus from stakeholders; helps in the execution of action plans to meet desired outcomes
Serves as a valued teammate related to the buildout and ongoing management of a cloud native, API enabled, digital end-to-end lending platform with a best-in-class risk framework that will underpin Live Oak Express, as well as the future state of credit decisioning for the entire bank (e.g., digital application and loan documents, underwriting workflows, credit decision engine & automation, product expansion, risk-based pricing)
Participate and contribute to the ongoing credit portfolio management, credit policy, and financial performance activities that influence risk management, policy, and profitability
Assist in developing and ongoing management of acquisition and client deepening campaigns across new /existing Live Oak Express businesses, verticals, products, and features
Assess and decision high quality loans meeting bank policy in a high volume, data-driven lending business
Service new and existing clients related to loan applications, onboarding, and issue resolution
Support risk governance activities of the business (e.g., steerco, risk committee, portfolio management)
Provide support to other teams to include credit administration, risk management, embedded banking, marketing, BAG, product, technology, PMO, compliance, legal, and other cross-functional teams
Meets regularly with Live Oak Express Leadership to discuss business performance, industry trends, emerging risks, and opportunities
Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC

Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, computer science, or mathematics, or equivalent experience
1 - 3 years of proven banking experience across multiple financial services functions including lending, underwriting, credit, servicing, strategy and/or product covering both SBA and conventional loans, lines of credit, cards, and/or payments for business and/or consumer lending businesses
Knowledge of business credit underwriting and loan structures that mitigate risks; strong conceptual understanding of risk /reward pricing and fee structures
Fundamental knowledge of the SMB market drivers, competitors, and products
Understanding of Live Oak Bank organizational vision, strategy, operations, and culture
Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor communications to a broad spectrum of audiences and cross-functional teams
Strong conceptual ability: able to solve complex problems with simple, easy to explain solutions
Time spent in a fast paced, technology driven, result oriented, often ambiguously defined arena, with shifting priorities and timelines
Preferred Experience
Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
Intellectually curious
Excellent written and verbal communication.

The base pay range for this position is $56,540.00 - $92,520.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.Please note that we provide at least the minimum requirement of paid sick leave to our employees who reside in states that require employer-paid sick leave, including but not limited to Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
