As an Associate in our Institutional Client Credit Management – Corporate & NBFI team you will manage a portfolio of credit relationships within the Global Credit division of RBC Capital Markets. You will work closely with other groups within Capital Markets and the Bank to deliver a full range of credit and banking services to large multination corporations and sponsor clients, including Private Equity and Private Capital Sponsor, SMA funds.

What will you do?

  • Primarily support RBCCM's Risk Solutions Group (RSG) and Fund Finance in the origination, onboarding, maintenance and management of the non-lending credit relationship with large sponsor clients/funds.
  • Create call memos for credit Due Diligence meetings as well as engage with clients to conduct comprehensive fund due diligence.
  • Participate in team deliverables with respect to regulatory/audit requests
  • Ensure transactional requests are reviewed and approved within policy
  • Actively collaborate with Group Risk Management and RBC Trading Documentation team in the document negotiation process by proposing ISDA credit terms (ATEs) and other credit provisions to ensure proper trading documents are established.
  • Develop expertise in various industries and trading products, policies and guidelines, and provide value added advice to internal partners
  • Ensure that bank systems correctly reflect key terms and conditions of agreements and other documentation for the assigned portfolio
  • Understand and apply securities regulations governing Private Equity, Private Capital Sponsor funds, and other institutional counterparties from other industries such as Precious & Base Metals and General Diversified.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Academic background with a minimum of Bachelor's level accreditation or equivalent with an emphasis in finance, economics or quantitative discipline
  • An understanding of credit risks associated with institutional clients including Private Equity, Private Capital Sponsor funds, along with the trading products they use.
  • Ability to read and understand complex legal documents such as Private Placement Memoranda (PPMs), Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), structure charts.
  • Prior experience and understanding of derivative trading products such as FX Forwards, Interest Rate Swap.
  • Understanding of ISDA master agreements and CSAs, primarily credit terms within ISDA and CSAs.
  • Strong credit and analytical skills including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to draw reasoned conclusions and recommend a course of action
  • Previous banking experience with relationship management, structuring and writing of credit proposals, credit processes, policies, risk analysis would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both within a team environment and independently under limited supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong general PC Skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

Nice-to-have:

  • MBA, professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA) or a post-graduate degree with a focus in finance, economics or quantitative discipline would be an asset
