We're hiring a team member to assist with reviewing clinic medical records to determine retention needs. The role requires moving, organizing and sorting file boxes and use of a pallet jack.Summary
Team members will assist with reviewing clinic medical records stored on open shelving filing units to determine which medical records can be shredded. Each file needs to be reviewed to determine if the patient is an adult or minor. Adult records will be organized to be shredded by a shredding vendor and minor records will be organized and indexed for continued storage.Job Description
Work systematically to review patient medical records to determine if record is for an adult or minor to decide if it can be shredded or retained. Access file and compare patient’s birthdate against an established date; Involves reviewing medical
record documents to locate patient’s date of birth
Determine if the patient’s medical record should be destroyed or stored additional years
-Organize and sort files as directed which may include alphabetizing and sorting by year
-Assemble storage boxes
-Organize/prepare medical records for shredding vendor
-Create an index (list) of medical records stored in each box

-Movement and organization of file boxes; may use a pallet jack, climb ladders and stand for periods of time
Will work extensively with protected health information and is required to adhere to health insurance portability and accountability act (HIPAA) privacy and security regulations and policies related to the same.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
