Oshkosh Corporation Associate General Counsel – Transport Segment

The Associate General Counsel – Transport Segment will act as a senior legal advisor for the Transport segment leadership, providing comprehensive legal guidance to support strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations that enable growth and innovation.

This position is responsible for advising on a wide range of matters, including commercial transactions, government contracts, and intellectual property. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, the Associate General Counsel proactively identifies legal and business risks, delivers practical and business-oriented solutions in a fast-paced environment, and supports the execution of strategic initiatives.

This role is embedded within the Transport business while also operating within Oshkosh Corporation’s broader legal department, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and governance standards. The Associate General Counsel partners with centralized legal and compliance functions to drive consistent application of corporate policies, strengthen compliance programs, and enhance risk mitigation across the Transport segment.  This role reports directly to the Transport Segment General Counsel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Serve as a strategic legal advisor and business partner to the Transport segment, enabling accelerated and pragmatic execution of growth priorities, program performance, and international expansion initiatives.
  • Drive solutions with a practical, business-oriented mindset across a broad spectrum of areas, including commercial transactions, government contracts, intellectual property (including technical data and licensing), regulatory compliance, product development, and supply chain.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability for outcomes by anticipating business needs and proactively identifying and addressing business and legal risks
  • Advise on U.S. and international government contracts, including FAR/DFARS compliance, export controls, and country-specific regulatory frameworks.
  • Act as a trusted partner to program and capture teams throughout the full lifecycle of pursuits and programs; including bid strategy, proposal development, contract negotiation, and execution to ensure alignment with legal requirements and business objectives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including commercial agreements, prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, joint development agreements, supplier agreements, distribution arrangements, leases, and commercial contracts.
  • Drive consistency and excellence in legal processes, contracting standards, and risk management practices within the Transport segment and across the broader organization by partnering with other members of the greater Oshkosh Corporation Legal Department.
  • Manage and optimize outside counsel relationships globally, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective legal support aligned with business priorities.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, excellence, and collaboration consistent with Oshkosh’s People First culture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an Accredited Law School.
  • Member in good standing of the bar of at least one state.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a corporate legal setting or law firm.
  • Ability to establish strong partnerships, relationships, and influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Operate in a matrixed, global organization with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and a learning mindset.
  • Ability to partner with outside law firms to support in-house needs.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with government contracts law.
  • Ability to work interdependently and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to travel 25%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate legal complexity into practical and actionable guidance for senior leaders.
  • Experience supporting U.S. and international defense programs, familiarity with Department of Defense procurement practices and global defense customers.
  • Demonstrated experience advising manufacturing or industrial organizations, particularly those with complex supply chains.
  • Working knowledge of international legal framework, including cross-border transactions, foreign regulatory regimes, and compliance considerations.
  • Experience supporting capture and proposal initiatives, including risk assessment and negotiation strategy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite and AI tools suitable for a legal department of a multinational corporation.

Pay Range:

$155,800.00 - $288,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
