Houlihan Lokey has the largest worldwide financial restructuring practice of any investment banking firm, with offices and experienced professionals located across the globe. Role Overview

The Financial Restructuring Group is seeking an experienced Associate to join our Singapore office. The role provides exposure to a wide range of complex and high-impact transactions across Asia, including debtor- and creditor-side, as well as in- and out-of-court, restructurings, liability management exercises, capital solutions and private financings, and distressed mergers and acquisitions.

The Singapore team operates in a highly entrepreneurial and results-driven environment, working closely with corporate clients, financial sponsors, promoters, lenders, and private credit and special situations funds to deliver bespoke capital structure solutions and execute complex, multi-stakeholder transactions. As a result, top performers are given substantial responsibility and regular interaction with senior-level professionals and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Associates are core members of deal teams and work closely with Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents, and Financial Analysts. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, analyzing, and explaining historical and projected financial information
  • Building and reviewing detailed financial models
  • Coordinating and performing business and financial due diligence
  • Preparing confidential information memoranda, management presentations, pitch materials, and other client deliverables
  • Preparing valuation analyses and supporting negotiations with creditors, shareholders, management, and other stakeholders
  • Leading day-to-day execution of live transactions and marketing processes
  • Building and maintaining direct relationships with clients, counterparties and professional advisors
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members
  • Assisting in business development, origination, and the marketing of new engagements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong academic track record with a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline
  • Prior investment banking experience, preferably in restructuring, leveraged finance, special situations, or a related capital markets or advisory role
  • Demonstrated interest in financial restructuring, capital solutions, and complex transactions
  • Strong understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications
  • Excellent quantitative, financial, and analytical skills
  • Strong LBO and DCF modelling capabilities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
