We currently have an opportunity for an Associate Financial Consultant to join our Employee Benefits team.

Overview:

The Associate Financial Consultant plays a key support role within our Employee Benefits department, assisting in financial analysis, renewal strategy development, client reporting, and the overall delivery of high-quality benefits consulting services. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who is eager to grow their career in employee benefits, underwriting, and financial consulting within a middle-market brokerage environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing financial reports, claims analyses, cost projections, and benchmarking for mid-market employer groups.
  • Support senior consultants in developing renewal strategies and modeling plan design alternatives.
  • Maintain and update financial tools, spreadsheets, and internal tracking documents to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Analyze carrier underwriting results and assist in negotiating renewals with insurance carriers.
  • Prepare client-ready presentations, renewal packets, stewardship reports, and monthly/quarterly financial updates.
  • Support Account Executive team during client meetings by providing data insights, reporting, and follow-up support.
  • Respond to client and internal team inquiries with timely and accurate information.
  • Participate in marketing efforts by gathering census data, issuing RFPs, consolidating quotes, and assisting in carrier comparisons.
  • Help evaluate benefit plan options and contribute to plan design recommendations.
  • Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Work closely with account management, analytics, compliance, and operations teams to support client service strategies.
  • Assist in improving financial processes, reporting tools, and documentation standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, regulatory updates, and market conditions impacting employee benefits programs.

Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years prior experience in employee benefits, underwriting, actuarial support or insurance brokerage
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret claims data and financial reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline driven environment.
  • Knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and ancillary benefit plans.
  • Familiarity with carrier underwriting practices and financial terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation.

 

The expected salary range for this position is $41.21/hr - $54.95/hr and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages: health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits such as vacation, sick, and personal days, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
