Role and Responsibilities

The Associate Field Testing Engineer will be hands-on and act as an information resource about assigned areas of responsibility to other Quality Assurance staff and possess leadership capabilities for multiple complex projects.

They will design, implement, maintain and recommend changes about the new functions and features to update the test plans and produce evaluation processes. The incumbent will work closely with Developer and Project Managers in defining and designing performance test requirements. Lead other engineers to ensure thorough test coverage and test performance before product launch date. The incumbent will also be working on action items such as: making and coordinating each project’s schedule (entry & approval) and test plan, and reporting HQ and internal group the risk points such as blocking issues before launch or carrier entry date as well as follow up all of these issues.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with R&D to implement new standards and specification related changes and/or carrier specific requirements

  • Use technical engineering knowledge and experience to understand customer applications, test cases, and requirements. Interworking capability with teams in different time zones.

  • Works independently & determines approach to work, and is monitored/supervised based more on milestone basis, and at key deliverable junctures.

  • Identify the required documentation and process for the project. Assist in creation of design requirements. Assist in analyzing test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Collaborate with other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software products.   • Diagnose Protocol and System level issues from the carriers, screen through and debug issues reported from carrier, and oversee IOT and field test by doing in-depth log analysis
    Will Manage & train junior Engineer and 3rd party engineers to perform required test items
    Mentor fellow engineers to provide 1 on 1 training in the field (technical, process).

  • Create / update technical, test process, work process documents.

  • Understand requirements and core functions and new features from Samsung or from the competitors.

  • Responsible for developing new TC and proofing various test cases, Tests new features to ensure that features and performances are correct and test results are accurate.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in wireless industry preferably in Mobile QA
    Proven Experience in QA life cycle, test plans, test executing and reporting
    In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of wireless technologies including GSM/CDMA/WCDMA/LTE/5G and Radio Interface and/or exposure to RF network engineering, etc.

  • Familiar with 5G technologies is a plus including, but not limited to mmWave/Sub6 and Beamforming

  • Excellent knowledge in LTE features including VoLTE/ViLTE/VoWiFi/RCS messages/OTA Activation.

  • Expert in utilizing log capturing and processing Tools: QXDM, QCAT, QPST, QMICM, NNEXT, SHANNON DM, N-Trace, Mobile Analyzer, Artemis, Debug Mux, Spy Tracer, Odin, XCAL, Mobile Datum, PC Datum, Wire shark/WindCatcher/Actix/XCAP-M with good understadning in OTA signaling messages.

  • Experience with Spirent/Metrico Tools: NOMAD/MUSE/Datum.

  • Excellent knowledge in Advanced LTE features including but not limited to QAM, LAA, Carrier Aggregation, MIMO, Beam Forming.

  • Expert in IMS SIP (Session Initiated Protocol), VoLTE & IR94 call processing.

  • Able to test in driving condition, and able to travel at any given moment.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, communication (verbal and written) skills, and organizational and documentation skills.

  • Core competencies in Java and/or C#, also Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python to Write Test automation code using Eclipse, Android Studio, Visual Studio.

  • Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenge, some language barriers, and project management deadlines

The hourly rate range for this role is expected to be between $46.63 and $50.24.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
