Associate Distribution Engineer

Leidos is seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer in our Pune, India office. We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality. You'll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos' reputation for high-quality work is always maintained. If you join us in this role, you'll gain expertise in a variety of areas, including NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards. As an Associate Distribution Engineer, you can expect to:

  • Support design engineering tasks for Leidos’ electric utility customers under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist in creating work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), URD, make-ready, and street-light projects using customer GIS/WMS tools such as DDS, GDT, GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, and Maximo.
  • Help track progress of assigned tasks and maintain awareness of scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
  • Use design tools like Pole Foreman, Katapult, O-Calc, SOCKET, Spida-Calc, AUD, and DDS with direction and training from experienced team members.
  • Participate in design reviews and help prepare engineering design packages for client discussions.
  • Perform routine project tasks, planning activities, and basic customer follow-up to support project needs.
  • Conduct initial scope checks for assigned work and assist in maintaining schedule alignment with client priorities.
  • Contribute ideas to process improvements and support team efforts to enhance efficiency and quality in design deliverables.
  • Gain exposure to coordinating with conflicting utilities, understanding field engineering requirements, and helping assemble design materials for cable/conduit projects, permit packages, and easement/ROW requests.
  • Work independently on day-to-day assignments with regular guidance, contributing to overall project success.

What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial). Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Experience with NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and GIS a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
