BeOne Medicines is seeking a strategic business operations leader to join the Global Clinical Operations (GCO) JAPAC team. This role will support JAPAC Clinical Operations through resource governance, strategic analytics, and operational planning, enabling data‑driven decision‑making and improved productivity across the region. The position partners closely with regional and country teams to ensure transparency, alignment, and operational efficiency in support of clinical trial delivery across JAPAC.
Essential Functions of the job:
This role serves as a strategic business operations and analytics partner for JAPAC Clinical Operations, with a primary focus on resource governance, portfolio analytics, productivity optimization, and decision support. The position works closely with the Director, GCO JAPAC, country Clinical Operations leaders, and global stakeholders to ensure transparent, data-driven resource allocation, operational efficiency, and informed strategic decision-making across the region.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Business Operations:
- Partner closely with the Director, GCO JAPAC, to coordinate and drive regional strategic planning initiatives for clinical trial execution, ensuring strong alignment with global and JAPAC-specific goals and business priorities.
- Take ownership of monitoring operational performance metrics, identifying emerging risks, and recommending mitigation strategies that enhance delivery and efficiency.
- Support and contribute to resource planning, budget forecasting, and operational optimization across the JAPAC clinical portfolio, ensuring transparency, consistency, and accountability in execution.
- Champion the adoption and consistent implementation of operational processes, systems, and standards across trials, fostering continuous improvement and best practice sharing throughout the region.
- Partner with the Director to strengthen knowledge management processes, ensuring critical information and learnings are captured, retained, and leveraged for future initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of sourcing strategies and support vendor governance to promote efficiency, collaboration, and quality across regional operations.
Regional Resource Governance & Portfolio Planning
- Lead the analysis, preparation, and synthesis of materials for monthly APAC resource governance meetings, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and decision readiness.
- Own regional resource demand and capacity analytics, integrating country inputs, portfolio changes, and strategic priorities to support governance discussions and escalation decisions.
- Coordinate closely with country Clinical Operations teams to collect, validate, and align resource-related inputs, ensuring consistency and transparency across JAPAC.
- Support the Director, GCO JAPAC, in resource planning, scenario modeling, and forward-looking capacity assessments to anticipate risks and enable proactive decision-making.
Strategic Partnership: Regional Resource Management & Allocation Oversight
- Act as a key regional partner for clinical operations resource management and allocation oversight, representing JAPAC Clinical Operations needs and perspectives in regional and global forums.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and transparency across all inputs used to support resource allocation, prioritization, and capacity planning decisions.
- Translate resource allocation and capacity planning outputs into actionable insights for regional and country stakeholders, clearly articulating impacts, trade‑offs, risks, and mitigation options.
- Identify and drive opportunities to simplify, automate, and streamline resource management and allocation processes, improving usability, consistency, and productivity for country teams.
Operational Oversight, Study Delivery & Risk Management
- Provide regional oversight and guidance to ensure operational excellence and consistency in study delivery across JAPAC. Partner closely with country teams to support the achievement of recruitment and site activation goals, ensuring alignment with global and regional priorities.
- Collaborate with country and cross-functional teams to monitor progress, identify potential challenges, and provide strategic recommendations and operational support to maintain delivery timelines and quality standards.
- Support proactive risk management at the regional level by identifying portfolio or study-specific risks, developing contingency plans, and coordinating mitigation efforts with country and global stakeholders.
- Promote operational best practices and continuous improvement across the region by sharing learnings, optimizing processes, and driving alignment to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall trial performance.
Regional Initiative Support & Representation
- Act as a regional representative for JAPAC in global or cross-functional initiatives that require local operational input, strategic insights, or coordination.
- Support the implementation of regional and global initiatives by collaborating with country teams to ensure local feasibility, alignment with JAPAC priorities, and consistent execution.
- Serve as a liaison between global stakeholders and JAPAC countries, providing regional perspectives, sharing best practices, and contributing to the continuous evolution of global operational strategies.
- Contribute to project teams or working groups focused on process improvement, capability building, or digital and data transformation initiatives relevant to clinical operations across the region.
Communication, Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Proactively identify potential issues and seek improvement opportunities in clinical trial execution.
- Take initiative for issue resolution within and outside the Global Clinical Operations department.
- Coordinate risk management processes, including proactive risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation planning.
- Ensure alignment with broader organizational strategic initiatives and business needs, providing recommendations to generate greater value for the company.
- Support effective JAPAC GCO communications by developing clear, consistent, and audience‑appropriate messaging to enable alignment across regional, country, and global stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication excellence within JAPAC GCO through structured updates, governance materials, and leadership communications that promote transparency, clarity, and timely decision‑making.
Strategic Analytics & Decision Support
- Deliver high-quality strategic analytics and decision support for JAPAC Clinical Operations leadership, enabling fact-based prioritization and execution.
- Synthesize complex operational, financial, and resource data into clear executive-level insights and recommendations.
- Support scenario planning, business cases, and ad hoc analyses to inform regional and global clinical strategy discussions.

Qualification Required:
Education Required:
Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, public health, or related field.
Other Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years in clinical development, clinical operations, or strategic planning within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry; regional experience in JAPAC preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proven ability to synthesize scientific and operational data into strategic insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking; able to operate in a complex, dynamic marketplace.
- Proficiency with analytic tools (e.g., Citeline, Trialtrove), CTMS, EDC, and feasibility software.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize regional intelligence and operational data into actionable recommendations for protocol design and execution.
- Fluent in English; additional regional languages a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound, timely decisions while balancing strategic priorities and operational realities.
- Strong project management capabilities with proven success leading complex, multi-country initiatives.
- Skilled collaborator who thrives in a matrixed, multicultural environment with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Proven track record of identifying and driving process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
