This role is an exciting opportunity to channel your passion for Innovation in the field of Statistics and Data Science to help shape the future of the Global Clinical Operations function and transform the way in which GSK uses data and quantitative thinking to drive decision-making in R&D.

An ideal candidate for this position is passionate in the application of advanced analytics and data science to address varied business problems.  You will need to have a strong grounding in python and have experience of leading value delivery through product development and AI/ML modelling. You will operate in matrix teams on a wide range of projects using agile ways of working collaboratively with other colleagues in Global Clinical Operations and partners from the wider Biostatistics, Data Science and R&D community. 

In this role you will:

  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on problem identification, potential solutions; lead execution of innovative and high-value analytics solutions.

  • Work with a team of Data Scientists and Analysts to manage efficient execution of the strategy and roadmap, using advanced analytics (descriptive / inquisitive / predictive), including hands-on support of all development activities. Develop team members on methodology and advanced analytics approaches with a focus on fostering high morale and motivation.

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable machine learning models and AI-driven solutions for real-world business problems.

  • Lead the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle: data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, training, evaluation, and deployment.

  • Implement and maintain MLOps pipelines for continuous integration, delivery, monitoring, and retraining of models.

  • Optimize models for performance, scalability, and efficiency in production environments.

  • Deliver Be-spoke Analytics solutions for trials in Planning, feasibility and operations

  • Lead, mentor and guide team of Data scientists, data analysts

  • Stay current with the latest AI/ML research, AI/GenAI, tools, and best practices; evaluate and implement new technologies as appropriate.

  • Document processes, models, and code to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical standards in all AI/ML initiatives.

Required qualifications and Experience

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • Overall 12+ experience, 10+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, deep learning, or AI engineering roles.       

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, able to deliver convincing, clear presentations to all levels of stakeholders.

  • Experience applying data science to clinical trials operations (study enrolment acceleration, trial site selection, country profiling, recruitment curve prediction etc), patient identification or medical domain a plus/preferred.

  • Experience with data analytics using Real-World Data (RWD) a plus.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and passion about creative problem solving and data innovation, demonstrated accountability in driving project, demonstrated autonomy in leading stakeholder discussions and delivery.

  • Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure [Preferred]) and deploying ML models in production.

  • Strong software engineering skills, including version control (Git), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.

  • Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
