The Associate Director of Strategic Pricing and Legal Project Management supports the Director in developing and executing a team strategy aligned with firmwide goals. This role oversees and manages the combined Pricing and Legal Project Management (LPM) team, serving as a key people leader responsible for guiding, developing, and mentoring team members.

The Associate Director is accountable for day‑to‑day operational management, leading complex client engagements, driving performance through data analysis and reporting, and ensuring high-quality delivery of Pricing and LPM services. The role also functions as the Director’s delegate when needed, providing continuity of leadership and maintaining strategic alignment across initiatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Director in developing team strategy, executing strategic initiatives and supervising the Pricing and LPM teams.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of both pricing and legal project management functions to ensure alignment with firm goals.
  • Lead complex client engagements and high-profile projects, providing strategic pricing and project management guidance.
  • Mentor and develop team members, including Senior Managers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and report on key performance metrics to firm leadership, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as the Director’s delegate as needed, representing the department in leadership meetings and decision-making forums.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Development, Finance, Innovation, Information Technology and Knowledge Management, among others.
  • Drive the development and implementation of tools, templates, and best practices to enhance pricing and project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures related to pricing, budgeting, and client engagement.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and innovations in legal pricing and project management.

Qualification and experience/skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • JD or MBA required
  • Previous law practice in an AMLAW firm preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal pricing, legal project management,  related professional services roles, or practicing attorney roles
  • Must have both legal pricing and legal project management experience 
  • At least 5 years of direct experience working with firm leadership and firm partners in scoping, developing budgets, identifying material assumptions and exclusions, and conveying the risks/rewards of various pricing proposals in litigation, corporate, and employment and labor practice areas
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and performance reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with legal technology platforms such as Clocktimizer, Foundation, Aderant Expert, SharePoint and Power BI preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Client relationship management experience and a full understanding of client development drivers
  • Proven analytic and decision-making abilities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to confidentiality, discretion, and professional integrity
  • Demonstrable experience of thought leadership and innovation in problem-solving
