Why This Role Matters:

We are seeking a Reinsurance Associate to join our team. The Reinsurance Associate will support the development, execution, and management of Group 1001’s annuity reinsurance programs. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional with experience in life and/or annuity reinsurance and a desire to grow in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. How You'll Contribute:

  • Assist in due diligence and transaction structuring for prospective reinsurance partners, including treaty review, pricing analysis, cash-flow modeling, and risk assessment.
  • Support the execution of international annuity reinsurance transactions, coordinating across time zones and managing deliverables with reinsurers, brokers, and banking partners.
  • Maintain relationships with global reinsurance counterparties and intermediaries; ensure all treaty requirements are met, including payments, collateral postings, and settlement reporting.
  • Monitor and periodically review active reinsurance treaties.
  • Partner with Actuarial and Finance teams to analyze ceded liabilities, profitability, and capital impacts; prepare reports for management and regulatory purposes.
  • Research new structures, including interpreting differences in regulatory regimes as they relate to annuity reinsurance structures.
  • Coordinate closing deliverables, signature packets, and flow of funds across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Validate and reconcile reinsurance data feeds; contribute to automation and accuracy enhancements across reporting processes.
  • Support onboarding of new treaties into internal systems; monitor performance metrics, collateral adequacy, and compliance.
  • Monitor developments in the global annuity reinsurance market, including pricing trends, counterparties, and emerging opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Actuarial, Finance, and Investment teams to ensure alignment across transaction execution, valuation, and reporting.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline reporting, enhance data quality, and strengthen operational controls throughout the reinsurance lifecycle

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in annuity reinsurance or related transaction support at an insurer, reinsurer, or consulting firm
  • Familiarity with life and annuity reinsurance structures (e.g., coinsurance, funds-withheld, modified coinsurance, offshore arrangements, trust/collateral mechanics).
  • Experience with hedging and ALM a plus, particularly foreign currency hedging and duration risk management.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel (required).
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Curiosity and desire to learn about global reinsurance markets and how to participate in emerging opportunities in this market.
