Associate Director, Product Control

What is the opportunity?

This role supports the Corporate Treasury (CT) business within the Product Control team under the CFO Finance group.

The incumbent is primarily responsible for the effective production and improvement of the weekly and monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) reporting for the Corporate Treasury business. This involves managing a team of product controllers to drive critical P&L accuracy and transparency enhancement projects. The Associate Director will also ensure effective communication of reporting and findings to business and Finance stakeholders, as well as to senior management teams.

What will you do?

  • Lead a team of two to produce P&L and decomposition of P&L
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, CT business, risk management, and IT partners to enhance control environment and drive transparency
  • Develop and maintain a robust CT P&L reporting process through leveraging existing and new data infrastructure
  • Play key role in the P&L control environment; provide assurance over accuracy and completeness of financial results
  • Ensure timely production of weekly and monthly P&L reporting, as well as investigation into material variances between P&L estimate vs. Actual
  • Design, deliver, and implement P&L analytic development projects, with the use of RBC’s analytics tools
  • Communication of monthly estimate and actual results to Finance stakeholders and senior management
  • Ensure that project activities are accomplished within approved time frames, scope, and budgets
  • Work with data warehouses on various projects
  • Prepare reconciliation / analysis / reports to meet ad-hoc requests as necessary
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive and highly performing team
  • Ability to make a real impact to the bank and have decisions that will change how we do business

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 3+ years’ of experience in Product Control or a closely related role
  • Proven experience and strong overall understanding of fixed income and derivative products, as well as their usage in a treasury setting
  • Strong leadership, analytical, communication and people management skills
  • Ability to make decisions and collaborate effectively with people
  • Ability to deal with problems that are not well defined and create clear and concise solutions with feedback from many users
  • Experienced in project management and change management

Nice-to-have

  • Graduate degree in Finance and/or degree in data analytics
  • Experience working with Big Data to drive Business Driver insights and analytics
  • Experience building financial models
