Position Overview

The Associate Director, PO Portfolio Delivery is responsible for driving the successful execution of key portfolio initiatives that align with the strategic vision of the Precision Oncology (PO) business unit, as outlined in product roadmaps, annual operating plans, and mid- and long-range strategic plans. In this capacity, the Associate Director leads the portfolio delivery manager team and ensures the integration and implementation of portfolio-level objectives and key results (OKRs), fostering a cohesive experience and seamless execution across the diverse suite of PO products.

The Associate Director collaborates effectively with product strategy teams and enabling functions, applying an understanding of business strategies, emerging technologies, and relevant regulatory landscapes to achieve impactful outcomes.

The “how” is just as important as the “what.” The Associate Director is skilled at bringing cross-functional teams together to drive meaningful results, creating a sense of trust, and shared ownership across the organization.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and monitor critical initiatives that involve multiple key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between the PO business unit and stakeholders. Prepare regular reports and presentations on initiatives that detail project status, performance metrics, risks, mitigation strategies, and any support needed.
  • Model collaborative behavior across Exact Sciences functions to drive the efficient execution of key initiatives to meet the current and anticipated needs of the PO portfolio of products.
  • Develop, monitor, and support operational plans for cross-functional efforts, ensuring the delivery of seamless experiences for PO customers and patients. Communicate effectively with enabling functions and core teams to support these efforts.
  • Serve as a voice of the business to enabling functions, outlining PO priorities, objectives, activities, and timelines and translating them as appropriate to ensure alignment with business and corporate goals.
  • Participate in enterprise forums to reinforce PO priorities, track progress, identify roadblocks, reduce risks, and drive efficient execution. Represent PO as a trusted advisor and delegate when necessary.
  • Proactively identify challenges, opportunities, and solutions related to key initiatives, ensuring prompt action to keep projects on track.
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across all levels of the organization, tailoring the message to different audiences.
  • Work in a matrix environment, building relationships and fostering collaboration to enhance team effectiveness. Leverage these relationships to reinforce priorities, reduce ambiguity, and provide clarity.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Remove barriers to team progress and resolve conflicts within the team and outside of the team.
  • Motivate and inspire direct team members to do their best work through coaching; provide mentorship, training, and development.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.

  • Ability to travel 25% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Life Sciences, or field as outlined in the essential duties.
  • 4+ years of experience directly and/or indirectly leading people with demonstrated ability to communicate clear expectations, motivate and inspire others, and successfully achieve goals through a team.
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare, life sciences, biotech, or other related industry.
  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Proven ability to understand stakeholder strategies, focus on key problems, align priorities for delivery, lead cross-functional teams to successful outcomes, ensure solution adoption, and drive value.
  • Demonstrated success in forming and sustaining collaborative, trusted-advisor relationships with stakeholders, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
  • Demonstrated success developing teams and talent, with a focus on leading without direct authority to achieve key outcomes and drive organizational success.
  • Demonstrated successful project leadership experience including enterprise-wide initiatives and including agile delivery.
  • Strong organizational skills, including program/project governance.
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience in IT systems for healthcare and laboratory services.
  • Demonstrated advanced project management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong change management skills.
  • 6+ years of experience in an execution role with progressively increasing decision-making and leadership responsibility.

Salary Range:

$136,000.00 - $232,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
