Associate Director, Patient Engagement - Data Insights Analytics Lead

The Data Insights Analytics Lead is responsible for leading a team of analysts to deliver actionable insights that shape asset profiles, program strategies, and clinical trial designs. This includes leading ad-hoc analytics requests (such as enrollment trends, competitive landscape, and prevalence analysis), supporting platform development and governance (including MS Fabric handling, Data Insights Framework, and data quality initiatives), and implementing standardized processes for reporting, automation, and prioritization. The role ensures analytics capabilities are scalable, efficient, and aligned with strategic objectives while enabling faster, more informed decision-making across clinical development.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Integration

  • Provide strategic and technical direction to a diverse analytics team, ensuring Patient Engagement Data Capabilities are fully demonstrated across CDDA functions.
  • Oversee delivery of ad-hoc reports and research requests, balancing priorities and resource allocation while maintaining high-quality outputs.
  • Drive standardization initiatives such as reusable reporting templates, automation of recurring requests, and development of FAQs and prioritization frameworks to improve efficiency and clarity.
  • Lead platform-related project governance to ensure robust infrastructure and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify emerging data sources, technologies, and use cases that improve analytics capabilities.

Clinical Program Design Analytics

  • Partner with internal experts and cross-functional teams to integrate insights from standardized reporting and platform-driven analytics into trial develop strategies.
  • Apply outputs from ad-hoc analyses (e.g., enrollment performance, prevalence and demographics) to advise patient pathways, site selection, and schedule of activities.
  • Ensure that standardization efforts and automation translate into consistent, scalable approaches for clinical program design, reducing cycle time and resource intensity.
  • Promote innovation by leveraging platform capabilities and advanced analytics tools to optimize trial develop and execution.

Patient Engagement Tech Agenda Reporting and Program Management:

  • Support the delivery of innovative, patient-centric solutions across Patient Engagement that enhance recruitment, retention, and engagement in clinical trials and improve the way we work
  • Track and report on execution of cross-functional Patient Engagement tech agenda initiatives
  • Ensure tech agenda project alignment with the strategic data and technology vision set by the Senior Director, Patient Engagement – Data Strategy (P5) and PE leadership

Personnel Management and Development

  • Supervise direct reports and facilitate performance management, personnel and career development through frequent interactions, coaching, clear feedback, and escalation of issues to Patient Engagement Data Capabilities leadership as appropriate
  • Create and maintain an inclusive environment where differing experiences and perspectives are accepted
  • Ensure key analytics expertise is available and actively participating with therapeutic area and clinical development activities (e.g., trial design, schedule of activities, patient, and investigator identification, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific, analytics, or health-related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, and/or related fields
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Skills and Preferences:

  • Post-graduate degree(s), e.g., Pharm D, Ph.D. or Master’s in Data Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology
  • Experience with MS Fabric, Power BI, or similar enterprise analytics platforms.
  • Proven track record to implement data quality frameworks and governance processes.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and automation of reporting workflows.
  • Understanding of cloud-based data ecosystems and scalable analytics solutions.
  • Prior experience in managing sophisticated/cross-functional projects and teams is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in navigating ambiguity
  • Critical thinking, learning agility, strategic reasoning, and innovation mindset

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$123,000 - $180,400

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
