This position is responsible for leading a team of approximately 12 Technology Services infrastructure and service desk specialists who support a unique and complex portfolio of vital utility and building services in support of TAMU’s missions. The individual who serves in this role works directly with Facilities & Energy Services (FES) technical directors and managers within 10 departments to ensure they deliver the highest quality services to their customers.
A typical day leading the Facilities & Energy Services technology team involves:
Leading, supporting, and mentoring the FES IT team.
Working closely with FES department supervisors to plan, coordinate, and support ongoing and future projects.
Daily financial management (tracking, forecasting, reconciliation, and reporting) of technology initiatives/expenditures.
Supporting daily operations in the following departments: Utilities & Energy Services; Building Access & Cameras; Facilities Analytics and Mapping; Facilities Management; Dining; University Architect; Grounds & Landscaping; Custodial Services; and Construction Services.
Coordinating with Technology Services enterprise teams who provide IT infrastructure services/utilities to campus customers.
Providing approximately 1,200 customers with end user device support.
Provide responsive, after-hours support 7 days/week.
Participate in collaborative team software design
Meet with customers and technical staff to determine their needs and requirements
Engage in IT trainings and professional development activities
Salary: Up to $130,000 commensurate with education and experience
Location: In-person role in College Station, Texas
Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted asylum or refugee status in accordance with 15 CFR, Part 762; 22 CFR §§122.5, 123.22 and 123.26; and 31 CFR § 501.601
Schedule: This role may require working outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Eight years of related Information Technology experience
A well-qualified candidate should possess one or more of the following:
Three years of experience providing support to a public energy and utilities organization, to include IT support for building automation, power generation, water, wastewater and electrical systems.
Strong background in Information Technology within Utilities & Energy Services (UES) and/or Facilities operations.
Prior experience working in City or State organizations
Knowledge of the maintenance and installation of computer and network equipment
Proven ability to lead teams effectively, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and sound judgment under pressure
Ability to maintain composure in high stress situations and communicate clearly
