Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

What you'll do:

You’ll lead a high-performing team,  with responsibility for directing, planning and apportioning the work of employees including interviewing, selecting and training, recommending the setting and adjusting of rates of pay and hours of work, coaching and assessing performance, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory policy. Manages highly technical teams involved in design and development solutions in a Research and Development environment for high-value technology tied to the strategic direction of the company.

Lead the design and development of cutting-edge products, technologies, and systems/platform architecture spanning hardware/software engineering, technical security, and QA design/certification. You will drive projects from inception through implementation and software maturity, primarily focusing on new and emerging technologies.

As the manager of high-level technical professionals, you’ll provide both strategic vision and hands-on technical guidance, ensuring your teams make creative, high-impact contributions. Your role is key in shaping and executing technical strategies within a fast-paced, evolving Network Systems landscape.

Success in this role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, sharp analytical thinking, and a proven record of delivering impactful results under tight deadlines. You’ll balance strategic planning with direct technical leadership, empowering your teams to excel.

You’ll also lead strategic initiatives, foster collaboration across internal/external organizations. 

What you'll need:

  • Functionally lead and manage a highly experienced and specialized professionals in AT&T
  • Supports innovation, strategic planning, technical proof of concepts, testing, lab work, and various other technical program management related tasks associated with the designated functional areas.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, end user communities, and partner groups to define strategic direction for Network Systems. 
  • Team Leadership and Operations Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership across multiple Network IT functions including Solution Engineering, Solution Architecture, Program/Portfolio Management, Testing and Tooling,
  • Performs interviews and selects employees, maintains proper staffing levels, allocates resources, supervises teams daily operations, productivity, identifies areas for improvement, develops action plans to improve
  • Creates performance plans, develops teams technical and managerial expertise through on-the-job and formal training opportunities, enforces Company policies, takes necessary disciplinary action, evaluates individual performance for annual performance review, merit increases, promotions, and other employment status changes, and conducts long-range planning for the team.

What you'll bring:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience with a bachelor's degree 
  • 8+ years of experience in global organizations at a leadership level, including hands-on management of the teams both internal and external to your own chain of command.
  • Proven expertise in deploying and optimizing large-scale programs across diverse stakeholder groups and complex organizational structures 
  • Demonstrated success in both strategic planning and tactical execution, with ability to seamlessly transition between high-level strategy and detailed technical guidance 
  • Exceptional project management and cross-functional team leadership skills with a track record of delivering transformative results; relevant certifications (PMP, Agile) preferred 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with proven ability to make data-driven decisions in complex, fast-paced environments 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all executive levels 
  • Proven ability to work effectively across multiple time zones with international teams and manage complex, competing priorities 
  • Strategic thinking mindset with superior problem-solving abilities and sound business judgment 
  • Proven financial acumen at all levels of delivery (project, portfolio and team), demonstrated Key Process Indicators for determining the value of the work, the accomplishments and overall Return on Investment (ROI)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Organizational change management experience with a proven track record of successfully navigating and leading enterprise-wide transformational initiatives 
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and modern development methodologies 

Our Associate Director-Member of Technical Staff, earns between $208,600- $313,000 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
