What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is a leading global investment banking company dedicated to providing services in banking, finance, and capital markets to corporations, institutional investors, asset managers, and governments globally. We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Developer to join our dynamic and innovative team in Toronto. We build critical, multi asset class platforms for Sales and trading teams globally across RBC Capital Markets. In this role, you will collaborate with the front office, product, QA and design teams to build best in class applications using the latest technology.

Be a thought leader driving our tech standards and development practices for the long term.

What will you do?

  • Design and implement application solutions on the target platform using Java, Solace and REST based microservices, and Kubernetes Cloud deployments for reliability and scalability
  • Develop Java Spring Boot applications, with GridGain, MemSQL and Elastic backends
  • Follow best practices and development standards for high quality delivery. This includes code review, static code analysis, and unit test coverage
  • Performance testing and analysis to ensure the applications perform under various load profiles
  • Create technical documentation, training, and information sharing with the team members
  • Work in an Agile team to incrementally deliver solutions
  • Provide L3 production support along with other team members

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 7+ years’ experience building Java applications using Spring, Spring Boot and Solace based backends. This is a hands-on development role
  • Experience developing microservices
  • Experience profiling and analyzing applications written in Java for high performance and scalability
  • Leadership skills and experience working with technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills
  • Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DevOps and implementation of CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience with GridGain, Elastic
  • Capital Markets experience
