About the Role

• Responsible for leading and overseeing investment service and middle office to ensure effective and efficient investment process and in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal investment Standards, Policies, Procedures.
• Work with IAMC and CIT, drive the management of IT architecture and IT resources to meet business requirements with relevant IT teams.
• Responsible to assist CIO in delivering strategic initiative projects and Investment Department-wide operational interaction with other functions in AIA Life and IAMC.
• Ensure the business continuity of Investment Department by developing contingency and executing contingency plans.

Investment Service

  • Accountable for the selection and surveillance of the investment services provided by external providers including IAMC and third parties such as custodian banks and brokers to ensure service quality is up to standards. Manage relationship with external service providers and resolve issues that arise from the relationship.
  • Supervise day-to-day investment services support to investment team and to ensure the completeness of trade transactions settlement and validation against that from counterparties and recorded in trading system and all transaction have been captured in Investment Accounting System (SAP/FAM) and IBOR on trade date.
  • Accountable for the periodic and ad-hoc regulatory reporting process and quality to ensure their completeness, accuracy, and timeliness, under IAMC outsourcing model and mechanism.
  • Monitor the interactions with Finance to ensure the compliance with internal Investment Standards, Policies, Procedures, relevant laws, and regulations;
  • Oversee the validation of fee invoice from service providers i.e. Custodian, AIA intra-group charges and IAMC.

Middle Office

  • Lead and monitor the solvency and ALM regulatory required testing, calculation and reporting to ensure zero-error target and major comments from regulator;
  • Provide various performance report to meet CIO and business needs in a timely and high-quality manner, i.e. IC meeting material, monthly performance report, OPAT/Budget variance Analysis, etc.;
  • Examine the accuracy and completeness of reports received from external managers;
  • Support to provide quants-based testing and scenario analysis in the annual budgeting, SAA planning process and support other requirements on investment and risk analytics;
  • Be a key contact for ALM and/or Solvency audit process performed by Compliance, Risk, Auditors and Regulator.

IT and Infrastructure

  • Work with IAMC and CIT, drive the development of investment technology architecture and data flow to ensure effective system function and quality data availability for business needs;
  • Strive to automate operation and reporting process to optimise operational efficiency and accuracy;
  • Oversee the BCP and any emergency management process in place and lead the annual rehearsal by AIA standards and regulatory requirements.

Initiative Projects

  • Assist CIO to implement strategic initiative projects related to Investment Department and ensure the quality delivery of the project targets;
  • Lead and implement the Group investment initiative projects that may impact China functions.

Others

  • Manage the budgeting and tracking processes of general operating expenses of Investment Department;
