Job Description

As a Associate Director, HIV Franchise Marketing, HIV Speaker Bureau and Congress Strategy, at Gilead you will lead high-impact initiatives that elevate Gilead’s presence in the HIV Treatment and Prevention space. This role is responsible for shaping and executing strategies that drive meaningful engagement with healthcare professionals through speaker bureau programs and major scientific and advocacy conferences. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with operational excellence to deliver compliant, innovative, and impactful experiences that advance education and strengthen brand leadership. Working cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Compliance, and Field teams, this position offers an opportunity to influence market direction, manage complex programs, and create integrated strategies that connect scientific insights with commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities:

Speaker Bureau Management & Training

  • Lead strategy and execution for HIV speaker bureaus both Treatment and PrEP, including training plans, content development, and compliance oversight.

  • Manage speaker contracting and vendor partnerships; monitor program effectiveness and implement improvements.

  • Partner with Commercial Operations, Compliance, and Field Leadership on bureau sizing, budgeting, and updates.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with bureau speakers and ensure alignment across Treatment and Prevention teams.

Conference Strategy & Execution

  • Lead scientific conference strategy for HIV in collaboration with Medical Affairs, Marketing, and global teams to deliver integrated impactful presence

  • Drive planning and execution of Key HIV conferences, including booth design collaboration, advertising, digital strategy, and cross-functional coordination.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage agency relationships and budgets to deliver high-quality programs.

  • Establish systems, metrics, and processes for speaker bureau and conference initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Digital & Conference Strategy Acumen: Experience leveraging digital tools and innovative approaches to enhance conference presence and engagement.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years' Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Eight Years' Experience

OR

PhD/PharmD and Five Years' Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel up to 30%, domestically to conferences, advisory boards, and agency meetings

  • Must be comfortable with sensitive topics within HIV market

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related fields

  • Familiarity with marketing fundamentals, strategy, sales and commercial policies and practices.

  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical sales desired.

  • MBA or other advanced business or public health degree is desired.

  • HIV experience and relationships is preferred

The salary range for this position is: $195,670.00 - $253,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
