About the Role

As the Associate Director, Government and External Relations, you will be responsible for leading the Government and External Relations team and enhancing the University’s reputation and relationships with key government and industry stakeholders.

You will provide the Vice-Chancellor, senior executives, Colleges and portfolios with high level advice regarding strategic partnership opportunities to increase the University’s profile and meet organisational objectives. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of building a growing function in a dynamic organisation.

Some of the key position responsibilities of this pivotal role include:

  • Driving the external relations strategy for the University, supporting strategic objectives and enhancing the University’s reputation.

  • Delivering high quality strategic advice, position papers, submissions and recommendations on matters of strategic interest.

  • Providing professional guidance and support to colleges and portfolios regarding industry and government relations activities and strategy.

  • Proactively identify and manage legislative and regulatory risks, providing advice and options that enhance organisational sustainability.

About You 

With extensive experience in the public sector, a political office or relevant industry body, you easily engage at a senior level and possess the ability to cultivate relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders.

Your previous experience has honed your analytical, problem-solving and research skills. Project management comes easily to you and you have the ability to be self-organised and adaptable.

You have exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills, together with proven experience in preparing high- quality policy advice and influencing senior stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
