Associate Director, Global Medical Communications

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Global Medical Communications, as the Associate Director, Global Medical Communications, you will provide strategic oversight and end-to-end accountability for the planning and delivery of medical content within an assigned Disease Area (DA). You will ensure scientific consistency across all global medical resources, including Lexicons and Conference materials, while maintaining full ownership of the DA budget and vendor partnerships. By representing the GMC function at annual planning and strategic meetings, you will bridge strategic and tactical execution to drive high-impact medical communications deliverables.

This is a hybrid role, which offers a combination of an onsite and remote work schedule.  #LI-hybrid

The Role:

  • Leads the planning and execution of all new and updated medical content, including Scientific Content Platforms (SCP) and Lexicons, ensuring full alignment with the assigned Disease Area strategy.
  • Ensures the consistent application of the approved lexicon across all medical materials within the DA to maintain a unified and accurate scientific narrative.
  • Establishes and manages a consistent global review and approval process for all medical resources, including the high-pressure delivery of global conference materials.
  • Holds full accountability for the overall budget of the assigned Disease Area, overseeing forecasting, allocation, and financial tracking for all supported products.
  • Drives the end-to-end project management of planned medical resources, ensuring all deliverables remain on track and meet quality standards.
  • Operates with high autonomy to manage global vendor relationships, from selection through delivery, ensuring high-quality content production.
  • Serves as the GMC representative at key strategic meetings, contributing to annual planning and other high-level activities for the respective Disease Area.
  • Ensures the accurate tagging and nomenclature of all materials in Veeva, maintaining a centralized repository that serves as the "single source of truth" for the DA.

Your Skills & Abilities:

  • Degree in nursing, pharmacy, or advanced degree in science/medicine (MD. PhD, Pharm D, MS) preferred with 10+ years of pharmaceutical/biotherapeutics industry or relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a matrixed global organization.
  • Strong medical communications skills including demonstrated ability to lead the operational execution of scientific materials.
  • Demonstrated superior effective vendor management and project management skills.
  • Budget management a plus.
  • Strong scientific knowledge with ability to independently assess content and target materials to appropriate audience.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Work Model: Requires three days on-site for face-to-face collaboration and two days remote for focused project management.
  • Global Collaboration: Requires flexibility for occasional meetings across various time zones to support international colleagues and vendors.

  • Domestic and International Travel Required
