Associate Director - Global Delivery Center - Procurement

Job Purpose

Global Delivery Lead (GDL) will be representing the Global Delivery Centre (GDC) for Procurement within Global Capability Centre (GCC) and responsible for collaborating and building strategic relationships with local and global GSK leadership and other team members, to understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value and to position Procurement’s value proposition.

The GDL will be responsible to deliver Source to Contract projects for one or multiple regions across indirect categories such as Marketing, Technology, Professional Services, etc. As part of this responsibility the GDL will work collaboratively with the procurement category and local market teams (LOC) to deliver sourcing, negotiation, contract execution, and supplier lifecycle management services to the global procurement organisation. This service is a cornerstone of the future procurement operating model and will enable the function to industrialise its core operation, driving best practice, providing practical knowledge for development of best-in-class category strategies, consistency of execution, and continual improvement.

This role requires high cultural awareness to work seamlessly across multi-cultural business landscape and proven experience in managing complex strategic, operational and people sensitive issues, navigating through organizational complexity, handling escalations and associated business impact.

People leadership

  • Lead and direct a Procurement team in assigned locations.

  • Develop and implement effective ways of working across the Global Delivery Centre, local market teams and Category team to ensure a cohesive approach.

  • Develop the team and individual capabilities from both technical and behavioural aspects.

Strategy execution

  • Execute sourcing strategies for spend categories in scope of responsibility aligned with the requirements of stakeholders and business partners in collaboration with global category team.

  • Deliver benefits identified in strategies of local, regional, and global relevance through effective and collaborative strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), quality, service, cost, and innovation.

  • To ensure GSK’s Procurement policies, procedures, processes, systems, and methodologies are complied with.

Benefit delivery

  • Support category leads in the creation and delivery of effective savings targets agreed with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the agreed Savings Methodology.

  • Deliver savings and other set KPIs critical to global procurement plans as aligned with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the Savings Methodology and global budgets.

Operations Management

  • Resolve escalations, including from senior business stakeholders, timely and tactfully.

  • Manage complex prioritizations with multiple variables/considerations including but not limited to stakeholder sensitivity, business value and impact, spend, savings, compliance, risk to GSK etc.

  • Understand and efficiently navigate organizational complexity to deliver set goals

  • Tactfully manage sensitivities.

Drive operational efficiency

  • Create and manage effective process to ensure the delivery of targets, KPIs of GDC.

  • Set and deliver continuous improvement of all process with responsibility to build best in class Global Delivery Centre in Procurement.

  • Ensure that GSK’s procurement policies, procedures, processes, systems, and methodologies are followed to derive maximum benefits and be compliant.

Business partnering & stakeholder management in GSK

  • Collaborate and build strategic relationships with global and local GSK leadership teams, to identify and deliver business benefits aligned to assurance of supply, quality, service, cost, and innovation requirements. Responsible for supporting in the setting up of procurement operations for GSK’s Global Capability Centre in Bangalore and enhancing Procurement’s value proposition in the GCC.

  • Collaborate with procurement senior leadership and identify and align new value opportunities for Global Delivery Centres for continual improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s Degree with total 15+ years of experience and demonstrated expertise in managing procurement teams to drive performance and value generation through execution of category strategies, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing high value indirect spends (Marketing & Sales, Technology, Professional Services, Facilities etc.)

  • Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, sourcing execution, commercial and contract negotiations for complex global indirect categories.

  • Strong experience in using tools like Ariba or other equivalent sourcing execution technology.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and execution of multi market projects with consideration to diverse business needs and regulation (eg taxes, law, regulation).
