About the Role
The position will head the GIA Singapore Data Analytics team, and shape/execute the data analytics strategy for GIA, leveraging on data-driven insights to strengthen audit efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide value-adding independent audit services to the Audit Committee, Group Office, senior management and the regulator on the company’s capacity to manage risk and to provide reasonable assurance that the system of internal controls, as designed, is achieving its objectives.
- Define and lead the data analytics strategy within GIA Singapore, aligning with the broader Group GIA Data Analytics and business objectives as well as risk management priorities.
- Identify and integrate innovated data analytics methodologies and technologies to enhance audit efficiency and/or effectiveness across the audit lifecycle.
- Lead, mentor and develop the data analytics team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Drive team goals and performance metrics, aligning with department objectives, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Drive the development of dashboards and visualisations to present insights effectively to audit stakeholders.
- Oversee the design and implementation of advanced analytics solutions, to enable GIA to provide proactive assurance to management.
- Provide technical guidance on incorporating data analytics methodology and tools to the wider GIA team throughout the audit lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the wider audit team to incorporate data analytics throughout the audit lifecycle, including risk assessments, audit planning/scoping, fieldwork and reporting.
- Present findings, insights, and recommendations to senior management and the Audit Committee.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting data analytics in audit.
- Promote the adoption of advanced analytics, automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning and/or Generative AI to enhance the audit efficiencies and/or effectiveness.
- Maintain thorough documentation of analytics approach and findings to meet internal and Institute of Internal Auditors standards.
- Develop ongoing monitoring of key risk indicators through data analytics, supporting proactive and continuous approach to identifying and managing risks.
- Liaise with the control communities and other members of the company to contribute to the implementation of an effective and efficient system of internal control.
- Support development, and complete the annual audit plan, which will be approved by the AIA Group and local Audit Committee
- Plan, lead/support and execute data analytics reviews within the organization in accordance with the annual audit plan approved by the Group and Local Audit Committee. Prepare/Review the working papers, draft audit reports and other deliverables to meet internal standards and assignments are completed within budgeted time.
- Communicate the results of data analytics reviews and other assignments via written reports and oral presentations, and provide professional advice and insights in order to enable informed management decisions. Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for senior management.
- Build relationship with senior leaders and work with them to contribute and address issues on risk exposures and controls.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory inspectors on audit related matters.
- Whenever required and at Group Internal Audit’s request, to undertake audit assignments outside Singapore and also special investigation projects.
