This position resides within the Facility Operations area and is responsible for providing maintenance and utilities support services to the Research laboratories and related Administration buildings, Utilities functions and other West Point site departments. This portfolio of services ensures the site facilities are operated and maintained to effectively meet customer expectations.

Primary Activities

  • Identifies, enables, and takes calculated risks to challenge norms and execute opportunities that will drive efficiencies and create value.

  • Works collaboratively across the organization, building bridges across teams, functions, divisions, geographies, external stakeholders, and customers to support the best outcome for the company.

  • Defines and executes consistent processes to improve value, ensure continued delivery of products and services, and sustain long-term growth.

  • Applies knowledge of quality, regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements and effectively partners with experts to ensure a safe and compliant environment.

  • Assesses the degree of change required, manages, and minimizes associated risks, and brings stakeholders and team members through phases of commitment to drive successful execution and implementation of the change.

  • Develops site-based facility strategies for business continuity, building operation, and asset life cycle management to improve current service and uptime while generating new service offerings that create value for our company.

  • Understands workplace strategy and research and analytic methodologies, works across the organization, and implements workplace strategies to advance organizational objectives.

  • Works with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient and productive services effectively and safely at a competitive cost. 

  • Supervises salaried employees in Maintenance & Utilities and their personnel consisting of hourly union employees (USW) in 10 different crafts.

  • Manages the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), meets and reviews all second step grievances.

  • Partner with Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) and Maintenance Engineering leads to deliver efficient and effective maintenance services to our customers.

  • Responsible for the safe and compliant execution of maintenance and operations within our research laboratories.  

  • Represents GWES Maintenance and Utilities during regulatory inspections. 

Experience & Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years in maintenance management, facilities management or engineering fields with demonstrated applicable technical and managerial success.

  • Understanding of maintenance operations, financial systems & regulatory/GxP compliance

  • Demonstrated computer skills using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Demonstrated communication, leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills.

  • Capacity to swiftly address issues and develop solutions that minimize compliance risks, enhance efficiencies, and optimize business resources.

  • Demonstrated technical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple simultaneous assignments and adopt to changing business priorities.

Preferred:

  • Experience includes responsibility for labor relations management.

  • Professional designations: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (Black Belt/Green Belt) or equivalent applied experience.

  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems for managing work order processes (SAP PM, EAM/Hexagon, Maximo)

  • Understanding of Planning/Scheduling best practices as it relates to Work Order Management

  • Working knowledge of OSHA Industrial, NFPA standards, and other regulatory agency requirements

Education:

  • Required – Bachelor’s Degree in technical field or equivalent

  • Preferred – Advanced degree in engineering, facilities management or equivalent technical degree.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The salary range for this role is

$142,400.00 - $224,100.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
