What is the opportunity?

Join our Digital Technology team as an Associate Director, Digital Technology Architect, where you’ll lead the technical architecture and evolution of RBC’s critical digital capabilities. In this strategic leadership role, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the technology stack that powers our marketing platforms, client authentication systems, and customer-facing digital products. Reporting to senior technology leadership, you’ll ensure our digital infrastructure is secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives while driving innovation across our cloud-native ecosystem. This position offers the unique opportunity to shape RBC’s digital technology landscape while leading enterprise-scale initiatives that directly impact client experience.

What will you do?

  • Lead the architectural design and implementation of key digital capabilities including security infrastructure (IdP platforms) and marketing technology (Content Management platforms, Marketing Automation tools, and related systems)
  • Drive the evolution and optimization of client authentication systems ensuring security, reliability, and seamless user experience across digital touchpoints
  • Drive technical evaluations of third-party technologies and products; propose evaluate and recommend solutions alternatives that best meet business strategy, requirements, constraints and alignment to enterprise architecture target state
  • Oversee the design and deployment of cloud-based infrastructure and applications, leveraging modern containerization technologies and compute resources
  • Direct DevOps practices and security implementations across digital platforms, ensuring robust CI/CD pipelines and adherence to enterprise security standards
  • Serve as technical leader for cross-functional teams, translating business requirements into scalable architectural solutions
  • Act as liaison between development teams, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and optimal solution delivery
  • Champion best practices in system design, cloud architecture, and operational excellence while mentoring technical teams

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or related technical leadership role
  • Deep expertise with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including infrastructure design, deployment, and optimization. Strong proficiency with Linux-based environments (RHEL) and system administration
    Extensive knowledge of IAM-related security capabilities (e.g., authorization, authentication, user, credential, and role management, identity verification, access certification, access control models (RBAC, ABAC, etc.), privileged access management, etc.) and their realization and application across customer user population.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and container orchestration
  • Proven track record implementing DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code
  • Solid understanding of security practices, including authentication systems, encryption, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with marketing technology platforms such as Content Management Systems, Marketing Automation tools, or similar enterprise applications
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with specific marketing technology platforms (Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) or security (CISSP, CISM)
  • Experience working in financial services or highly regulated environments
