The Associate Director is Hybrid to either Windsor Locks, CT or Rockford, IL sites.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the single point of contact for the customer, representing their voice within the organization to ensure alignment, responsiveness, and long-term partnership success.
  • Lead contract negotiations and contract modifications, ensuring agreements align with both customer expectations and business objectives.
  • Define key program milestones and monitor progress against master plans and schedules for development programs, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities and drive resolution through effective resource allocation, schedule adjustments, or by negotiating changes to contractual terms.
  • Develop new business growth strategies. 
  • Lead a small direct program team and a matrixed Program Management Team (PMT), ensuring that all functional areas—including program management, finance, quality, operations, business development, and contracts—perform in a coordinated and effective manner to meet business, program, and customer commitments.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture across internal teams, driving operational excellence and accountability at every stage of the program lifecycle.
  • Travel 20% to RTX locations and customers

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Technical and business background, with the ability to navigate complex aerospace environments.
  • Leadership experience at both the value stream and product levels, driving results and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external leadership, including executive-level stakeholders, to align strategies and deliver business outcomes.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
