The Role: 

The Associate Director, Commercial Training and Development is responsible for the development and delivery of product, disease state and competitive landscape training for all field personnel within Syndax. This role is the primary facilitator for classes, pull through of learning programs and skills training for sales specialists and systems of care directors.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial Learning and Development, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting all events and opportunities related to the improvement of learning and development to enhance field engagement and communication. The successful candidate will partner with the leaders across the company to collectively build and maintain a thriving culture and community by facilitating learning, development, and connections among all cross functional teams. This individual will ensure that we are well prepared for significant growth of our organization and that the new team members are successfully integrated into the company culture while continuing to foster and develop employee capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and execute the delivery of field force training programs for the commercial engagement team(s)
  • Assess employees’ skills, talents, performance and productivity and prepare written evaluations with advice for improvement
  • Oversee the training in all key areas of training operations and partner closely with SMEs for Veeva, LMS and other operational platforms
  • Research new training materials and vendors that might enhance our training procedures and provide value to our employees
  • On-board new hires
  • Identify future training needs and create curriculum to facilitate that training
  • Uncover gaps in training material or content that should be created to ensure a best-in-class training experience
  • Lead field trainer program
  • Contribute to the design, development, and analysis of training across commercial functions and support efforts that drive improvements in field force effectiveness
  • Monitor program budgets and upwardly manage project scope as needed
  • Supply feedback and insights from training sessions to inform the design of future training programs
  • Results-driven, highly organized, and detail-oriented approach to work with a commitment to excellence
  • High standard of sensitivity with confidential information required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel 30% including to meetings, conferences, field rides and home office as required 

 

Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes: 

  • BA/BS is required; advanced degree is a plus
  • At least 3-5 years of sales training experience; with at least 3 years being with pharmaceuticals / biotech; start up a plus
  • Strongly prefer candidates with Oncology and/or hematology and/or diagnostic experience
  • Launch experience in a complex marketplace is a must
  • Ideally has experience with pharmaceutical sales and/or commercial operations or other home office matrix positions
  • Ideally has experience with knowledge of specialty pharma and complex operational drug procurement processes
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement, including a mix of in-office and remote based working.
  • Lead without authority to drive results
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment
  • Vendor management

  

Location: Syndax’s corporate office is in New York, NY.

Syndax offers a total compensation and rewards package that is among the most competitive in the industry. Base pay is just one element of our package and is determined within a range based on several factors including market data, experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, travel requirements and internal equity. Our overall package also includes an equity offering, annual target bonuses, and an outstanding benefits program. The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $195,000 - $210,000.
