Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC or Coverage) leads client origination and relationship management for CBA’s Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) division. Our purpose is to help clients achieve their strategic objectives through differentiated insight, trusted advice and seamless delivery across the financing and risk management spectrum.

Within Coverage, the Diversified Industries group supports critical sectors powering the real economy, spanning Agriculture, Food & Beverage, Retail & Consumer, Industrials, Defence, Technology and Health. As part of our growth, we are strengthening our client insights capability to deepen C-suite engagement, sharpen strategic origination, and position CBA as the partner of choice through consistently high-quality, sector-informed perspectives.

This Associate Director role will strengthen the team’s ability to bring sector and company-level insight, structured problem solving and C-suite-ready communication into client engagement and origination.

Do work that matters:

You will be core to building and scaling a differentiated client insights capability for Diversified Industries. Your work will directly support senior bankers engaging C-suite and Treasurers with sharper perspectives, earlier identification of strategic needs, and tailored ideas that create meaningful value for clients and the Bank.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Develop C-suite quality client insight materials: create distinctive insights that synthesise industry trends, investor debates and company-specific drivers, translating these into clear executive narratives, implications and actions.
  • Origination enablement: convert insights into opportunity pathways and high-impact client agendas across IB&M products, enabling earlier and more strategic client engagement.
  • Strategic pitch support: own the development of high-quality pitch materials – shape compelling insights, rigorous analysis and executive-ready content for priority client initiatives.
  • Bespoke insight initiatives: deliver targeted “insight moments” for clients and internal leadership (e.g. results season, macro/sector shifts, major announcements) with clear “so what / now what”.
  • Stakeholder coordination and follow-through: work across Coverage and product partners to ensure ideas are commercially grounded, executable, and progressed with disciplined next steps.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Extensive relevant experience in institutional banking, corporate advisory, investment banking, strategy, corporate development or management consulting, with a demonstrated ability to create high-quality insights.
  • Strong analytical capability and commercial judgement; ability to quickly understand the key drivers of a business and its industry context.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level storytelling and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills; able to work effectively across Coverage, product partners and internal leadership.
  • High personal standards and an ability to deliver under pressure with tight deadlines.
