Main Purpose and Objectives

Responsible to lead Site key strategic initiatives and strategic projects, providing management oversight ensuring the site vision, compliance requirements and operational excellence culture are integrated into all new projects.

Facilitate delivery of Corporate and Local large capital projects as Site User Representative, representing Site operation’s needs and requirements, also providing coordination/support between Site Operations and Project (Construction-Interventions-people/materials logistics-startup) to prevent/minimize impact to Operations and the Project.

Lead Operational readiness, for the assigned area, regarding workforce/structure, procedures, materials, Operation plans/budget, compliance.  Potential assignment areas:

•            Dry Operations (Compression, Coating, Inspection)

•            Process Safety Management (PSM)/Solvent related Operations (Spray Drying, Cleaning)

•            Materials Management (Warehouse-Automatic Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), Incoming)

•            Utilities (GMP Water, Compressed Air, Nitrogen, HVAC)

Responsibilities

Lead key strategic initiatives to support long-range site planning:

Focus on pipeline development, new manufacturing platforms, capacity increases, and future facility requirements.

Provide oversight to key strategic initiatives/projects:

Be liaison between Project and Site Operation Teams.

Operational and Project Management:

Collaborate with the project scheduler to integrate all project-related activities affecting the transition from project to operations.

Lead Operational readiness (define requirements, plan and lead implementation).

Support the assessment of all operational aspects of the project, including risk assessment and impact analysis in all areas outside of Production.

Oversee, as applicable, construction activities to ensure compliance with GMP and EHS standards (safety inspections, hygienic piping, etc.).

Report project progress to the Site Leadership Team periodically.

Facilitate integration of operational and project strategies to ensure effective and timely project delivery. 

Support Capital Projects.

Participate in the design reviews and ensure site vision is incorporated on design. Establish and communicate plant operational needs and requirements. 

Provide “user” input and review of the process design including P&ID reviews, Process Descriptions, Automation/Control Sequencing/Design and Functional Requirements.

Ensure continuous compliance with EHS & Quality standards.

Supervise resources or project team members:

Provide leadership and direction to project team members, ensuring alignment with project goals and company standards.

Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide and document constructive feedback and development plans.

Coach and mentor team members in aspects of fundamental engineering principles, including process understanding (both theoretical and practical), problem solving, engineering design, and project management, promoting professional growth and skill development.

Manage team dynamics, resolving conflicts and addressing issues promptly to maintain a productive work environment.

Educational Requirements

BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or related).

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of GMP operations experience in the pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/manager experience or equivalent in Project Management.
  • Experience in Automated Operations is preferred (e.g. Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers)
  • Requirements per area:
    • Dry Operations: preferred experience - Compression, Coating, Inspection Equipment, Dispensing, Dust Hazards.
    • PSM/Solvents: requires minimum of two (2) years of experience in PSM regulated Operations. Preferred experience - Biotech, API or Chemical Operations.
    • Materials Management: preferred experience – Warehouse/Materials Management, ASRS, AGVs or similar, Incoming operations.
    • Utilities: preferred experience – GMP Purified Water/Compressed Air/Nitrogen/Steam, HVAC, Waste Management, Electrical Systems, Facilities)

Other Requirements

  • Travel (within and outside country).
  • Work irregular hours, shifts rotation, weekends, holidays when necessary.
  • Fully bilingual with written, verbal and oral communication skills (English /Spanish)
  • Effective leadership, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent technical and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate in large group settings
  • Professional License (or EIT) preferred
  • PMP Certification preferred

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$118,500 - $173,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
