The position

Within this exciting and growing context, the Associate Director Business Development and Strategic Alliances will serve as a leader in the business development domain, across functions and units, and act as the single point of accountability for any business development opportunity in any of the business areas of Organon Italy.

We are looking for a Founder with entrepreneurial mindset and with a healthy mix of leadership and collaborative attitude, strong and proven network in local pharma environment, excellent skillset in marketing, analytical, relational and legal, innovative and agile mindset.

The candidate – which will report directly to the Business Unit Director Fertility and Business Development will execute all the aspects of: qualification for new business opportunities (local and international),  project manager for various types of business development projects (from business case to business launch), scouting new asset on local market, management of strategic alliances, P&L of the business unit.

Responsibilities

Build the future

Scout new business opportunities: from idea to contract execution

  • Respond to leadership requests for potential local/international transactions (e.g.: market definition, competitors, product positioning, medical assessment, pricing & reimbursement status, forecast).

  • Drive project governance for local projects, including the management of multiple local teams and impact assessment for ongoing operations (insource and outsource opportunities).

  • Create / review senior management presentations summarizing opportunities (e.g.: Business cases with financial modelling)

  • Lead negotiations on terms and economics, ensuring compliance with legal, financial, and operational requirements

  • Lead local scouting projects and screening activities to help identify new strategic transaction opportunities.

Evolve current ecosystem

Ensure optimization and compliance of current strategic alliances

  • Create partnership strategies that drive mutual value and support business objectives.

  • Build multi-year business plans and evaluate partnership extensions to other areas / products

  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and external partners and act as a single point of contact for contractual matters and conflict resolution

  • Renew commercial agreements based on existing terms and actual goals and market conditions

Master the Financial Discipline

Driving Accurate Financials to implement growth

  • Lead annual budgeting processes for business units, maintain accurate revenue forecasts and align them with organizational goals.

  • Track performance against targets and report variances regularly.

  • Conduct profitability and ROI analysis for existing partnerships

Build your network

Develop and Manage Strategic External and Internal Relationships

  • Cultivate and Manage Strategic External Partnerships (pharma companies, biotech firms, external advisors, and licensing entities)

  • Build strong connections across internal functions (Local/Global; Finance, Marketing, Regulatory, PharmacoVigilance, Medical, Market Access, Supply Chain, Legal)

  • Brand Representation and Visibility (represent Organon at industry events, conferences, and networking initiatives to strengthen brand presence and position the organization as a preferred partner)

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • University Degree (Management and/or economics preferred)

  • At least 3 years of experience in Pharma Business Development and Alliance Management.

  • Experiences within the described functional domains from industry (including Business Units) or from business consulting

  • Well established network of business partners and external advisors

  • Inspiring and humble Leader that is able to drive the change across Organon Italy and and align cross-functional teams toward shared goals while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Team player that effectively interacts with cross-functional stakeholders (from local to global) at multiple levels (including C-suite)

  • Ability to communicate technical and qualitative information to executives in all functional areas through interpersonal, verbal, and written channels

  • Strategic View: Ability to analyze the competitive landscape and market dynamics with a long-term perspective, anticipating risks and opportunities and delivering quick wins and strategic roadmaps

  • Strategic Market and Product Analysis & Positioning: Strong skill in evaluating market dynamics, product attributes and competitors to define competitive positioning and drive targeted marketing strategies.

  • Financial Modeling & Analytical: Expertise in building and interpreting complex financial models to support forecasting, valuation, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Legal & Negotiation: Proficiency in navigating regulatory frameworks and negotiating agreements that balance compliance, risk, and business objectives.

  • Relationship Management: Ability to build, maintain, and strengthen strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships to achieve mutual business goals.

  • Project Management: Competence in planning, executing, and monitoring projects to ensure timely delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Language requirements: Italian (native), English (fluent)
