Position Information

We are seeking an Associate Director, Budgets who will be responsible for preparation and oversight of the annual agency budget and day-to-day operating budget, including budget transfers, planning, developing and implementing specific strategic initiatives with assistance from the CFO and Assistant CFO.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparation and oversight of annual agency budget and day-to-day operating budget, including budget transfers with assistance from CFO and Assistant CFO

  • Directly works CFO and Assistant CFO planning, developing and implementing Extension specific strategic initiatives. 

  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures.

  • Prepares and analyzes financial information, including trend analysis and projections.

  • Prepares ad hoc analysis and management reports for Extension executive leadership team to support management decision-making.

  • Provides input and direct oversight of the budget process, including analysis of internal and external financial data to assist in developing short and long-range budget strategies for the agency.

  • Develops and implements processes to track changes to operating budgets during annual budget development.

  • Collaborates with leadership to provide guidance to Extension units and districts in planning and implementing budget strategies, provides oversight of the allocation of funds.

  • Responsible for the monitoring of federal and state budgets, reconciling unit operating and salary pools, chart of accounts, setup and closeout of accounts, and completing budget transfers.

  • Monitor state and federal spending trends.

  • Responsible for reviewing and timely entry fee based programming entries and monitoring agency salary savings.

  • Comply with state and federal quarterly and annual reporting requirements.

  • Ensure cost share account set up and monitoring of faculty cost share budget requirements are met.

  • Implements written communications and other methods to effectively disseminate budget-related information and processes.

  • Collaborates with leadership on best budget and financial practices for agency procedures and webpage resources.

  • Work cooperatively across Budget and Reporting teams to ensure coordination and communications.

  • Responds to inquiries by serving as a fiscal liaison with units, administrative services, and the Texas A&M University System.

  • Collaborates with leadership to serve as liaison with the State Auditor’s Office, the State Comptroller’s Office, and other oversight agencies on audit matters. Provides financial information, records, and support to auditors, both internally and externally.

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop training resources and conduct presentations for units on behalf of agency and fiscal office.

  • Supervise three staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

-Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience:
-Eight years of related experience.

Preferred Education:

-Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related degree


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel in office settings.

-Strong interpersonal, multitasking, and teamwork skills, with effective oral and written communication. Detail-oriented.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:

-Texas Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License

Salary: Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
