This is what you will do:
The Associate Director, Alexion R&D Finance Projects Lead, is a key contributing member of the Alexion R&D Finance team, focused on supporting improvements to financial reporting and analysis and also leading transformation efforts of the Alexion R&D Finance function as Alexion continues to integrate and align our technologies and ways of working with AstraZeneca.
This role requires interactions throughout the Alexion RDBU, including multiple global locations as well as functions beyond Alexion Finance, such as Global Financial Services (GFS), Alexion & AZ IT and AstraZeneca R&D Finance.
This position will be responsible for end-to-end project oversight, delivery of key enhancement and transformation initiatives, and provide key support for data quality improvement initiatives (in close collaboration with GFS). The role will build on the foundational progress completed to date and continue to drive strategic initiatives to standardize and better align with AstraZeneca.
You will be responsible for:
Data, Reporting and Analytics
Work closely with the Sr. Director of R&D Finance FP&A, and R&D Finance Business Partners, on enhancements to the Power BI solution and ensuring integrity with AZ reporting.
Serve as the primary contact between Alexion R&D Finance and IT, to support Snowflake and/or Power BI enhancements, initiative prioritization, planning and oversight of BAU maintenance activities.
Partner with R&D Finance FP&A and R&D Finance Business Partners to define and standardize reporting for function and project costs, including enhancements to data and reporting.
Serve as financial data and reporting subject matter expert (SME), supporting the R&D FP&A and R&D Finance business partners.
Work in close coordination with Alexion Enterprise Finance and AZ R&D FP&A, to ensure adherence to reporting standards and maintain consistency and integrity.
Identify and deliver automation opportunities to reduce manual efforts and cycle time while improving accuracy.
Support ad-hoc data and reporting initiatives while ensuring alignment with AstraZeneca.
Technology Strategy, Systems Roadmap and Governance
Define multi-year financial technology strategy, and clear systems roadmap for Alexion R&D Finance with specific emphasis on key technologies (e.g., ABACUS for clinical trial accounting and AXIAL for SAP S/4HANA replacement).
Support ABACUS and AXIAL pre-readiness activities, such as but not limited to, current state assessment and fit-gap analysis, data readiness and cleansing, change management and stakeholder engagement.
Coordinate with leadership and SMEs to ensure alignment of strategic vision, in accordance with AstraZeneca’s roadmap.
Represent Alexion R&D Finance at Alexion Data Office (ADO) and support the execution of the ADO’s vision.
Collaborate with the ADO to drive R&D Finance’s AI enabled analytics strategy
Serve as PLANIT (Planisware for Project Portfolio Management) Finance SME, and support future enhancements, upgrades and future PLANIT integrations with other AstraZeneca tools.
Provide quarterly updates for executive level leadership to report on project priorities, risks, and accomplishments.
You will need to have:
Minimum 7-10 years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience with systems and technology, both financial and non-financial systems.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
Communicate effectively with all levels in the organization, including cross-functional and senior finance leaders.
We would prefer for you to have:
Experience with Power BI, Snowflake, Planisware for project portfolio management, ERP implementations, and clinical trial accounting software
Computer experience with all Microsoft office products preferred.
Occasional travel may be required for training or other work-related duties.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from $148,058.40 to $194,326.65 AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).
