Job Summary
Responsibilities
Student Affairs:
In collaboration with the BSD Dean of Students, develop, implement, and evaluate policies to enrich the student experience, drive strategic change, and ensure equity and transparency in student affairs.
Partner with the BSD Dean of Students in supporting students through complex and challenging circumstances , providing timely resources and assistance as needed.
Oversee, direct, and manage high quality student programming, including orientation, convocation, and social events that elevate the student experience create a culture of student success.
Participate in the delivery of expert guidance on career and professional development programming that’s tailored to student needs and goals.
Lead and engage in cross-functional collaboration with key partner campus offices throughout the enterprise, including but not limited to UChicagoGRAD, Office of the Registrar, Office of the Bursar, Graduate Financial Aid, etc., to cultivate strong partnerships and ensure that policies and procedures align with University guidance and to streamline the student experience.
Financial Affairs:
Where appropriate, help lead and execute the annual budget process for both administrative and programmatic budgets, with input from the Director of Financial Affairs as needed.
Provides comprehensive oversight and guidance for all expenditures.
Develop a scholarship model, and oversee/manage the accurate and timely awarding of scholarship awards, in consultation with the Dean of Students and Director of Financial Affairs to advance student success objectives.
Admissions and Recruitment:
Assist programs in building robust, efficient, and consistent admissions processes that align with Divisional and University policies.
Oversee admissions and recruitment staff, and develop programs and innovative marketing strategies to increase enrollment.
Represent programs at local/regional/national venues (e.g., conferences and fairs) to promote our programs and engage/recruit students.
Program Development:
Assist and serve as a key stakeholder in the development of new graduate programs with an emphasis on student affairs, policy, and student experience to ensure that proposed programs meet the strategic initiatives of the Division and the University.
Work with and advise faculty leaders to share policies and ensure equitable and fair implementation of policies across programs.
Deliver student feedback to program leadership, helping to suggest and inform changes and enhancements that would improve student satisfaction and reduce reputational risk.
Management:
Supervises FTEs; manages, motivates, and mentors professional staff, establishing performance goals and fostering ongoing growth and development.
Facilitate performance reviews and other University and unit-based administrative processes required of managers.
Manages the execution of the school's registration, enrollment, grading, and graduation procedures. Creates plans to coordinate student affairs activities between students and faculty.
Manages a team of individuals that validate the academic status of students within the school to ensure proper tuition assessments and scholarship awards.
Identifies and implements technological solutions to improve operating efficiencies and assure veracity of data gathering.
Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
Master's degree in a biological sciences or health-related field strongly preferred.
Experience:
Background in higher education or continuing education strongly preferred.
Familiarity with University policies, procedures, practices, and resources strongly preferred.
Program planning skills strongly preferred.
Marketing and advertising experience strongly preferred.
Exposure to, and an understanding of, an academically rigorous research university environment strongly preferred.

Working Conditions
Office Environment.
Weekend/Evening Hours: As needed.
Travel: As needed to represent programs.
