The Associate Dean of Administrative Programs in the School of Education (SOE) is a collaborative academic leader who supports the Dean in providing leadership, supervision, and administration for administrative programs within the SOE. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Education, the Associate Dean assists in ensuring that programs are mission-driven, innovative, rigorous, current, and aligned with accreditation standards and district needs.
The Associate Dean contributes to an environment in which faculty, students, and staff can thrive academically and professionally, while advancing the University’s mission to prepare graduates for lives of leadership and service. The Associate Dean represents the SOE in internal and external activities as delegated and collaborates with faculty, administrators, districts, schools, educational co-ops, and community partners in support of School and College priorities.
Goals
The Associate Dean of Advanced Programs will:
- Support the Dean in meeting and exceeding all applicable accreditation and licensure standards.
- Enhance the quality of student-centered learning experiences across the administrative programs.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and collegial culture among faculty and staff.
- Support faculty excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Strengthen student engagement, mentoring, retention, and academic success.
- Support the integration of faith, character, and leadership into SOE programs.
- Assist in fostering and sustaining relationships with external partners.
Responsibilities
- Support the School of Education Dean in the formulation, implementation, and achievement of goals and strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a visible ambassador of the school and the university.
- Serve as a moral, ethical, and professional role model for faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist with oversight of program design, curriculum development, assessment, and instructional innovation.
- Ensure course readiness prior to the start of each bi-term.
- Conduct regular reviews of course content and instructional delivery each bi-term to ensure ongoing quality, consistency, and relevance.
- Oversee the ongoing development, enhancement, and relevance of courses within the administrative programs.
- Review and approve course syllabi to ensure alignment with university policies, accreditation standards, and student learning outcomes.
- Determine faculty needs and collaborate with the Dean on faculty and staff recruitment, credentialing, onboarding, and hiring recommendations.
- Conduct bi-term formative and annual summative evaluations of both full-time and adjunct faculty members teaching administrative courses.
- Assist the Dean in supervising, mentoring, and supporting administrative program faculty, adjunct, and staff performance.
- Coordinate course rotations, faculty assignments, and academic scheduling in administrative programs.
- Ensure students receive accurate and timely guidance on course selection, sequencing, and degree progression.
- Support faculty and student research, scholarship, and professional engagement.
- Manage the review and resolution of academic integrity cases, ensuring consistency, fairness, and full compliance with university policy.
- Prepare and submit assessment outcomes and planning reports for administrative programs within established deadlines.
- Develop and monitor administrative program budget and expenditures.
- Review and approve administrative program expense and reimbursement requests.
- Proactively address student concerns and provide academic oversight and support for students.
- Promote service to the University, the education profession, and the community.
- Represent the School of Education at meetings as assigned.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications
- Earned terminal degree in education or related field, or commensurate experience.
- Demonstrated academic leadership experience.
- Record of effective teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
- P–12 school-level teaching and administration certification and experience required.
- P–12 district-level administration certification and experience required.
