Job Details:

Mercer University's Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is seeking applications for the position of Associate Dean for Graduate Programs. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the promotion of excellence in graduate nursing education.


 

Responsibilities:

The Associate Dean for Graduate Programs provides leadership and management of the College of Nursing graduate programs. Working collaboratively with the other Associate Deans, the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs supports the overall advancement of the College of Nursing and the University. The Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean of Nursing. This is a tenure-track eligible appointment. Rank and salary are commensurate with professional qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and support all faculty teaching in graduate coursework, graduate program coordinators, the Endowed Chair, and designated staff members;

  • Hire, support, and evaluate adjunct clinical faculty for graduate courses;

  • Serve on College and University committees by virtue of position or as appropriate;

  • Oversee the graduate curricula;

  • Oversee graduate curriculum planning and systematic evaluation;

  • Oversee continuous quality improvement strategies;

  • Collaborate with the Assessment and Evaluation Committee and the Graduate Programs Committee to strategically plan and evaluate the curriculum;

  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with the community, external partners, clinical affiliate partners, and other key stakeholders to further graduate educational goals;

  • Evaluate employment rates and certification examination success of graduates;

  • Forecast enrollment numbers to plan for graduate clinical and course needs;

  • Oversee and evaluate adherence to policies and procedures for graduate students;

  • Oversee the quality, accuracy, and final product of program publications, such as the graduate admissions brochures, graduate web pages, Graduate Student Handbook, and updates to the Atlanta Catalog; 

  • Oversee the quality of reports submitted to the College to the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the National League for Nursing, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and other reports pertaining to the graduate program; and

  • Collaborate with the other Associate Deans to foster and support a "One College of Nursing" environment by encouraging cross-campus events, outreach opportunities, and shared learning experiences for students, faculty, and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field from an accredited institution

  • Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Georgia

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic programs

  • Knowledge of nursing education accreditation standards

  • Record of scholarship commensurate with a minimum rank of associate professor

  • High-level interpersonal communication skills

  • Philosophy commensurate with Mercer University's mission and values

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Record of effective administrative leadership in nursing education

  • Experience writing accreditation reports
