Who We're Looking For
The Associate Cybersecurity Engineer supports day-to-day access to Syniverse systems and assists with the administration of security applications and operations. Under the guidance of senior engineers and the Security Manager, this role helps apply industry benchmarks to enterprise processes, contributes to documentation and training, participates in evaluating and recommending security solutions, and develops hands-on skills with emerging information security technologies while executing established procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Support identity and access management tasks (provisioning, deprovisioning, permission changes) through approved workflows and runbooks.
- Triage and fulfill standard security service requests and incident tickets; escalate complex issues to senior staff.
- Gather, organize, and maintain system and security data for analysis, reporting, and audits.
- Assist in designing and developing documentation for automated functions, processes, and tools used by the security organization.
- Review and edit Information Security documentation for clarity and accuracy; publish and distribute updates.
- Participate in needs assessments and assist with requirements gathering for security solutions; document user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Execute test plans and validations to ensure requirements are met; record and communicate results.
- Perform initial analysis of internal/customer requests and draft solution options for review by senior engineers.
- Contribute to proactive risk assessments, security reviews, and consulting activities under guidance; document findings and recommendations.
- Help implement approved recommendations/solutions and verify remediation outcomes.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to promote and disseminate good security practices.
- Prepare draft reports, metrics, and status updates for management; maintain evidence repositories and knowledge bases.
- Stay current with foundational security topics and complete assigned training, labs, and certifications.
Experience, Education, and Certifications:
- 0–2 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, systems administration, networking, or related internships/co-ops.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational knowledge of security policies/practices and common security applications (e.g., EDR/antivirus, SIEM, vulnerability scanning, DLP).
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux/UNIX; basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls); SQL fundamentals. Exposure to network devices, RADIUS, Tandem/Mainframe, or macOS is a plus.
- Database exposure (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Access) preferred.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+ (or in progress) preferred; GSEC, CySA+, or equivalent entry-level certifications are a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- May participate in on-call rotations or shift work as needed.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, seek guidance appropriately, and incorporate feedback.
