Associate Content Technical Specialist
The incumbent of this role will work on the creation and/or acquisition, preparation and delivery of assigned content and information for creating products and product functionality in all publication electronic media.
About the Role:
In this opportunity as Associate Content Technical Specialist, you will be involved in:
Creation/Acquisition:
Assists in acquisition of source material from multiple websites (governmental and others), or receives a request from editorial to process a document as required. May research cases and legislation citations, as per process requirements.
Creates and supports meta data.
Preparation and Final Delivery:
Performs duties related to the preparation of and final delivery of information such as converting, coding, merging, rendering, loading, and validation of information.
Converts new or existing information to a coded data file for established workflows or product development enhancements.
Incorporates and responds to input from content experts on functionality, presentation and formatting of content.
Assists in the delivery of final product through delivery of electronic files for all media.
Workflow Management:
Works regularly on various systems, software, databases, and applications to deliver quality products.
Assists in maintaining the integrity and completeness of work product and product databases for editorial and primary source materials.
Analyzes and assists in resolving routine problems.
Quality:
Ensures completeness, proper structure, and functionality (content verification, resolving simple issues, and review) for assigned products.
Provides effective and timely escalation of quality issues.
About You:
Entry level for professional roles, with 6 Months -2 years of publishing experience.
Good XML, HTML & CSS knowledge is a must, along with good written and verbal English and communication skills.
Able to learn quickly and apply knowledge to increasingly complex and changing work.
Shows technical aptitude for computer applications and systems such as word processing and file management applications.
Detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize and stay focused while dealing with multiple production assignments/tasks.
Ability to work with team members, contacts from other teams, departments, virtual and offsite teams/vendors effectively.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with the underlying technologies of EPUB, primarily HTML, CSS, and XML.
Software Tools: Experience using relevant software for creating and editing EPUB files, such as Adobe InDesign or other dedicated e-book conversion/authoring tools.
Content Conversion: The ability to convert content from various source formats (e.g., Microsoft Word, PDF, InDesign files) into a high-quality EPUB format.
Formatting and Layout: Skills in ensuring content is properly formatted, including text flow (reflowable layout), image integration, tables, and typography, so it displays correctly across different devices (smartphones, tablets, e-readers).
