ROLE SUMMARY

Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is an investment management firm with over a trillion dollars entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realize their long‑term objectives.

This Associate Consultant role supports a successful client onboarding experience for NTAM clients and their relationship managers. The role focuses on executing operational and data‑related activities that ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across the client lifecycle.

The Associate Consultant assists in resolving data issues to meet Service Level Agreements, performs data analysis, and supports process and technology improvements. The role partners closely with Investment Operations and Technology teams to improve workflows, data quality, and overall operational effectiveness.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Associate Consultant on the Client Ops Data team, you will contribute to operational excellence across the practice. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Support account and client creation across investment, accounting, and performance book‑of‑record platforms.

  • Maintain and validate the quality, integrity, and accuracy of client and account data in a data‑driven environment.

  • Develop an understanding of downstream data usage and consumer needs to support accurate execution across operational teams.

  • Assist with data analysis, issue identification, and problem resolution in collaboration with internal partners.

  • Participate in daily interaction, issue escalation, and resolution with internal and external partners, including Global Custodians, Fund Accountants, Trading Counterparties, and service providers.

  • Work closely with operational peers and technology partners to support process improvements, automation, and scalability initiatives.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the client onboarding experience by supporting enhancements across technology, investment operations, and client servicing.

  • Assist with governance, controls, and documentation to support data integrity and operational risk management.

  • Help organize work, manage priorities, and ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned deliverables.

  • Participate in knowledge sharing, process documentation, and training activities to build individual and team capability.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Foundational understanding of the investment management business, asset classes, and investment or financial technology systems.

  • Strong interest in analytics, data management, client onboarding, and investment products.

  • Effective problem‑solving skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.

  • Strong relationship‑building and teamwork skills.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain issues and solutions effectively.

  • Interest or experience in process improvement, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes.

NECESSARY EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in operational, data, or service roles within financial services; experience in client onboarding and/or asset management preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to support process improvement and risk mitigation.

  • Experience contributing to initiatives involving multiple teams or stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Salary Range:

$61,500 - 98,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
