Role overview

We are expanding the PistonHeads auctions product and so we are actively looking for an Associate Consigner to join the growing team. You will manage your own portfolio of sellers and vehicles, taking each car from initial contact through to successful auction and sale. You will build pipeline, deliver valuations, negotiate deals, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the lifecycle.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in automotive buying, dealership sales or auction consignment who thrives in a target-driven environment and enjoys working with performance and specialist vehicles. You’ll work remotely, with travel to London once every two weeks, plus attendance at key events throughout the year (including some weekend work).

You will be supported by a dedicated Operations team who handle listing administration and process management, enabling you to focus on relationship-building, valuations and deal-making.

What you’ll do

Pipeline growth & target achievement

  • Build and manage a strong auction pipeline through inbound and outbound activity
  • Meet and aim to exceed individual monthly performance targets
  • Qualify sellers effectively and identify auction-appropriate vehicles

Valuations & pricing

  • Provide accurate, market-aligned valuations using data, comps and experience
  • Advise sellers on reserve strategy and auction expectations
  • Stay informed on premium and performance car market trends
  • End-to-end consignment management
  • Own your book of business from enquiry through to auction completion
  • Prepare vehicles for listing with support from the Operations and content teams
  • Ensure listings meet PistonHeads’ quality and presentation standards
  • Monitor live auctions and support buyer/seller communication

Negotiation & deal-making

  • Lead post-auction negotiations to maximise sale rates
  • Facilitate clear and professional communication between buyers and sellers
  • Escalate complex cases to the Auction Sales Manager where necessary
  • Customer experience & relationship building
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience to sellers and buyers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with collectors, trade contacts and repeat sellers
  • Represent PistonHeads at events, meets and exhibitions (including weekends when required)

Travel

  • Travel to London once every fortnight for meetings, training and team collaboration
  • Attend key events and shows across the UK throughout the year
  • Cross-team collaboration
  • Work with Marketing on listing promotion and seller engagement
  • Provide customer insights to Product and Engineering teams
  • Uphold the values of transparency, integrity and enthusiasm

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Experience in automotive buying, dealership sales OR auction consignment
  • Proven ability to manage a sales pipeline and achieve targets
  • Strong valuation capability and understanding of used car market dynamics
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively
  • A genuine passion for cars, especially performance and enthusiast models
  • Willingness to travel to London fortnightly and attend events (including some weekends)

Nice to have

  • Experience with online automotive auctions or digital retailing
  • Existing connections with collectors or specialist dealerships
  • CRM experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Understanding of photography, listing presentation or editorial content

The displayed range represents the expected annual base salary / On-Target Earnings (OTE) for this position. On-Target Earnings (OTE) is inclusive of base salary and on-target commission earnings, which applies exclusively to sales roles.

Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and other factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

This annual base salary forms part of a comprehensive Total Rewards Package. In addition to benefits, this role may qualify for discretionary bonuses/incentives and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
