Associate Compliance Engineer

Job Description

The responsibilities of this role in the global compliance team are to maintain and update certificates, registrations, and regulatory documents for products sold by Cognex worldwide. This encompasses devices developed and manufactured by Cognex as well as materials produced by our suppliers.

This role covers operational compliance and disciplines such as substance regulations (for example RoHS, REACh) and certificate renewals in the areas of safety, electromagnetic compatibility, wireless compliance, and environmental testing, considering national regulations in Europe, the United States, Canada, Korea, China, India, and Mexico.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate external services, including offer and order management, and define the scope of testing and applicable standards
  • Track progress of external services from shipment to final test report, including invoicing
  • Maintain and prepare technical files such as technical descriptions and declarations
  • Work with external service providers such as certification agencies and Environmental Compliance Data Services
  • Support the provision of reports and certificates upon internal or external request
  • Document management, including maintaining compliance-related files in SAP

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of substance and environmental regulations such as RoHS, REACh, POP, PFAS, SCIP, and TSCA
  • Basic knowledge of regulations in the areas of safety and electromagnetic compatibility for EU and US
  • Knowledge of national regulations in Korea, China, India, and Mexico would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of trade and tariff regulations would be an advantage
  • Experience with ERP or PLM software, preferably SAP
  • Proficient in analyzing regulatory requirements
  • Good communication skills in both spoken and written English
  • Self-organized and target-oriented

Minimum Education and Work Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Development, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, Quality, Trade and Tariff, Certification, or Regulatory Affairs
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Fluency in English
