Basic Function:

Within the scope of delegated authority, the Associate Chattel Risk Evaluation Analyst works primarily in a virtual capacity while conducting verification and valuations of chattel collateral using customer-provided photos and videos and third‑party verification sources. This role is responsible for the coordination and completion of Chattel Evaluations across multiple states and commodities. The Evaluator collaborates virtually with team members across appraisal, operations, and credit staff to ensure quality, timely, and accurate service to customers and Customer Hub Teams. All evaluations must conform to Chattel Evaluation and Association lending standards, as well as regulatory requirements of the Farm Credit Administration.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the proper execution of evaluations for designated commodities. Maintains expertise in a broad range of collateral types financed by the Association, including but not limited to Vineyards, Dairies, Trees, Fruits & Nuts, Timber, Field Crops, Vegetables & Berries, Nurseries, Livestock, Feedlot, Poultry, Winery, Forest Products, Market Processing operations, and Farm Equipment. Continually works to expand expertise to meet Association needs.

  • Supports the Association’s lending process by joining or coordinating with lending teams on virtual customer calls and business development efforts.

  • Ensures evaluations meet internal review and Internal Audit criteria for the designated commodities, addressing any deficiencies identified.

  • With oversight from the Director independently assesses, verifies, and evaluates chattel collateral up to $5MM within the assigned Delegated Evaluation Authority. Completes or supervises all Evaluation Levels up to Minimum Scope Evaluations, which include the verification and valuation of collateral using third‑party sources and Fair Market Value methodologies.

  • Assists with evaluations outside of delegated authority when needed.

  • Coordinates with Lending and Underwriting teams to request borrower documentation and verify accuracy of reported collateral using third‑party sources.

  • Obtains approved sources for Alternative Inspection Methodology (AIM) when appropriate and verifies collateral accuracy using AIM documentation.

  • Analyzes comparable sales information to support value conclusions and identify trends. May establish or apply Fair Market Value (FMV) for chattel collateral.

  • Independently conducts remote collateral verification, which may include the use of Alternative Inspection Methods and Third-party verification.

  • May assist in inspection and audit of financial statements and physical collateral if necessary.

  • Assesses the adequacy of farming practices and related risks during client interviews.

  • Maintains overall accuracy of chattel sales databases.

  • Assists in identifying and executing continuous improvement initiatives for the department.

  • Works collaboratively with peer evaluators and appraisal staff to coordinate evaluations and ensure exceptional customer service. Prioritizes evaluation requests in collaboration with the Regional Manager and Director of Chattel.

  • Meets and maintains evaluation standards and required trainings for designated commodities. Actively seeks to expand expertise in additional commodities and complex evaluation types.

  • Builds strong relationships with Customer Hub Teams by maintaining consistent communication, accountability, and a focus on positive customer experience. Monitors service levels and addresses deficiencies as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain the chattel tracking system by monitoring new requests, tracking receipt of necessary information from credit/underwriting staff, closing out completed requests, and updating information to ensure accuracy.

  • This person will follow-up with appropriate staff on requests that were not complete or were submitted with minimal or missing supporting documentation in order to keep the request moving forward in the valuation process.

  • Prepares electronic folders for valuation assignments and collects various supporting information. Gathers data such as balance sheets, inventory reports, machinery lists, and various other information required throughout all phases of the valuation report.

Levels of Supervision Exercised and Received:

No supervision exercised; works under the supervision of the Director of Chattel.

Typical Education and Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Up to 20% travel required for necessary site visits and in‑person inspections.

  • Expected to assist in completing chattel evaluations of all levels of complexity and independently complete Minimum Scope Evaluations.

Essential Requirements:

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required.  Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Position requires the ability to travel.

PART-TIME REMOTE/HYBRID: These employees will work partly remote and partly onsite. Part-time remote employees will work with their managers to determine when and how often they are needed onsite.

PAY RANGE:

Minimum $52,106.98 - Max $78,160.47 Annual

This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

  • Reflected is the national base pay range and title offered for this job at the current level.

  • Compensation, title, and job level may be adjusted based on candidate qualifications including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location.

  • Salary offered, within the applicable range, is one component of the total rewards package offered to candidates.
